Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux

It was for Thunderbird 2.

The MGTF second hand one I bought was the right one. SJC10007 on a different servo.

Alternate Brake Master Cylinder

I had difficulty getting a new master cylinder for my 820. I found these from and MGTF 500 which seem the same apart from the hydraulic feed to the clutch from the reservoir. That (reservoir) could be transferred from the old one I suppose. Anyone know if the TF 500 could be adapted? https://i.posti...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

It arrived about an hour after I sent the email!

Would these MGTF LE 500 one fit? I might invest in some: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/133094031726?ul_noapp=true
They look similar, so I have asked the seller to give me some photos.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

It clicks electrically allright but won't slam shut. Hard metal to metal bang. Think a spring or something in the latch is not letting it move off the "locked" position. If I move it manually (after spraying) it still doesn't latch.

Thanks Dave. have ordered the servo and cylinder. Boot latch now not operating on TB2 as well now! It didn't like being laid up for a couple of months!

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Doh! They sent the garage the wrong master cylinder so I'll try Bay of E.

Is this the one Dave?

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

I might ask they guys at Kiley Clinton who know all things power steering if they can suggest a cause.

ETA: They list the rack on their website so may know a reason; 820 P 86 -KCR029

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

And to you Dave. Thanks for all your assistance and insights. My classic friendly garage is indeed doing discs and pads and master cylinder, although I did have to assist in getting the rear pads fitted as he hadn't undone the bleed screw. Apparently the only other car he has come across with "windi...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Update: TGM: MOT'd and bit of an issue with a misfire on start up. Sprayed with WD and seems to be cured. It has been very damp and cold and the car only moves at weekends for now. Started locking itself again now the weather is cold and damp. I bought some of the microswitches but have not had the ...

Rover 820 96-99 NSF Indicator

I need a NSF indicator lens assembly for a 99 fastback (TGM).

Bay of E not showing any apart from one that looks like a NS but is listed as OS?

Anyone got one in their spares they don't want?

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

TGM is running OK with no rattles or indication of damage so he was lucky. On another note, the Vitesse has just passed it's MOT with just a headlight adjustment. (Headlight adjustment must be the new "retest" issue. Nearly all my cars tested in the last two years have needed "headlight adjustment" ...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

OK. Temporary repair on TGM sump using a metal repair compound (ROCOL Metal repair compound). Gave it a good clean then washed with acetone to ensure no oily residue. The compound was pretty stiff to mix and starts to go off fairly quickly but the gouge in the sump was a good shape for repair. https...
