Back again

Been a while again so thought I'd say hello. No Rover purchases but I have bought another Jeep and several Astra Twintops since my last visit. I'm not up to my record of 800s yet but its definitely got out of control. Hands up who could see that coming?  Here's a pic of my Jeeps together....

Re: Number 58!

I never understood why they withdrew towing a trailer with a car on a standard car licence. There used to be a rule of thumb for safe towing that the trailer should be a maximum of 3/4 of the kerb weight of the towing vehicle. Not sure what the weight of your Astra is but i'm going to guess about 1...

Re: Number 58!

Yeah that's where I am with it, basically. The law changed in 1997. It's a pain to keep legal but I'm not bitter towards it as I'm not old enough to qualify for grandfather rights. I was born in 1981 and passed in 2000 for reference. The law was going to change on the 15th of November but it's now b...

Re: Number 58!

I guess I had/have. Spec wasn't an issue for me. It being a manual was the major thing for me. Which were almost always base models. I guess I'd forgotten how much effort/time/money I'd put into the cars I had in the past to make them how I wanted them. I think maybe I was chasing the memory of the ...

Re: Number 58!

I honestly can't see me trying again. This one was cheap so I went for a look at it that was all. Overall as I've said before I think I've moved on, and without more space or time having one sat around just to take to an odd show makes no sense for me. It was never going to become a daily driver and...

Re: Number 58!

Well eventually after more faff than you would believe, it's finally gone.

I think after this one that will be it for me and 800s. I'm just in a different place these days.

I've even sold off the last wall sign I had, which I'd had laying around for years.

Re: LPG price increase

As a V8 Jeep owner not running on LPG I feel very sorry for you. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‰ Joking aside though, I've heard lots of people saying over the last few months about LPG disappearing. It's always been a black hole for it here so I haven't bothered with it for a long time. I guess I'm fortunate that work is only...

Re: Number 58!

Looking like it won't come to that Henrik. πŸ˜‚πŸ‘ I've had a deposit left on the car and it's supposed to be being collected next Saturday. A localish guy is having and plans to get it on the road and use it without trying to make it into a show car. He says he has a few of them but our paths have never...

Re: Number 58!

Well if this one doesn't sell, I'll strip the car and weigh the engine.

I might have to take it to work though to use the weighbridge as I suspect my bathroom scales might not cope very well. πŸ˜‚

Re: Number 58!

Really?

Due to what's it made of?

A V6 is much larger so it surprises me it would be lighter.

Re: Number 58!

When you say the ride is terrible, do you mean crashy and firm? Or something else? Asking for a guy who is unhappy with the overly-light feel at the front end of his 800... Crashy and firm mate, it's tolerable on a good surface but not fun on a bad one IMO. Weight of the V6 may not be helping. I be...

Re: Number 58!

So the guy lined up to view it didn't turn up. πŸ™„ I've now used it more than I had recently to waste the half a tank of petrol in it. Not related to the person viewing. I'm going to take the Koni's off again. The ride is terrible with them on. I'll look to sell them on separately. I am still tempted ...
