Re: Fastback's cars.
I too usually apply silicone once or twice a year to the surfaces but can't recall having taken the seals off previously. It is a bit wetter up north, west coast too and perhaps parking on a slope doesn't help either.

Re: Fastback's cars.
I thought I would share this image regarding this door seal issue. I have done all eight doors (sunroof and boot to follow) whilst the weather has been lovely and this seal shows the problem beautifully. Well actually it's quite grim... https://i.postimg.cc/WhRGSQdQ/Door-Seal.jpg But what it does sh...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Water is pooling in the area of the chrome sill plates, being trapped by the door weather strip, the felt seam/wind seal and the rise in the body work to the 'B' (front sill) and 'C' (rear sill) pillars . So unless I made a break in the weather strips it can't go any where except into the car.

Re: Fastback's cars.
A good call but the the drain holes for the doors are on the other 'outside' side of the seal. I looked closely at the seal before removing it and you could see where the water was trapped and therefore likely to trace round. And there was a lot of slime when I cleaned the rubbers and slime isn't wa...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Not this time. Because I have got the door trims off you could actually see the puddles in the sill and when you opened those doors you got a shoe full of water!

Re: Fastback's cars.
Water ingress continues to be a problem (Vitesse). It is pooling in the sills, which I believe is not uncommon and causes them to rot out. It appears the weather seal allows water in but not out  ! To compound the issue, parking on a hill facing up, the N/S rear passenger sill has bridged over ...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)
A failing battery can cause all sorts of wieeerd problems. In the Sterling, a random rise on the temperature guage which lead to stalling. Some cause for concern before I realised (I was fearing HGF, KV6) but at least it gave the staff at Crap Fit the opportunity to further flog and mock the dead ho...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe
There's nothing complicated in there and if the motor's working, I guess you'll be fine. Hopefully just needs a clean. The key lock on the Vitesse won't turn, it's like it's from a different set. Embarrassingly, I can't get the lock out to look at it . I'll need to look again because if my rem...

Always good to keep them going.
Sorry, I may have missed it, but whats wrong with the lock?

Re: Fastback's cars.
Back to my little electrical gremlin. Been a lovely 'Autumnal' feeling day here (raining now though), so I decided to have a quick check of the joining blocks that I looked at, checked the fuses, all fine. To confuse matters a little further, switching on the hazard lights gave the same odd buzzing ...

Re: Fastback's cars.
You are right. The foam ring is only 5mm thick and a flat design pod leaves a gap of approximately 30mm at the widest end. My current speakers in the Vitesse are JBL GTO 529 (X4) with an offset coaxial design, ie the tweeter is angled, driven by a Kenwood head unit. I have primarily done this pod fo...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Thanks Dave. You can't swap over the C64 and C65 connectors that go to the column but I will check they are properly seated because I had disconnected them looking for the problem originally, good to be reminded. Yes, all dials work correctly until the right indicator is activated (left is fine), th...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Perhaps this should be in 'In-car entertainment'. On a different note, I am designing a new door speaker pod to mimick the OEM. This is my favoured one at the moment; https://i.postimg.cc/tZG2RC4b/Speaker-pod.png https://i.postimg.cc/phQkmbmF/Speaker-pod-2.png The difference being that the speaker w...
