Re: Fastback's cars.

Right, swapped CCU but not sure if it's telling me anything. Basically no light. Didn't try to activate anything with either fob but no puddle light. On reattaching the correct CCU the light came on again after connecting battery. So if there is a CCU fault, would T4 pick it up or do I now need a co...

Re: Fastback's cars.

OK, unplug C80 (J5), the lights go out. Time to swap out the CCU?

Re: Fastback's cars.

I'm going to recheck the CCU. I think I might have only unplugged C81 (J6), because I was checking the door locks. Not sure if I did C80 (J5). Been at this so long I forget what I've done. Perhaps I should write it down...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Bar the roof liner but I can discount anything above waist level now. All door cards are off, glovebox out and all puddle bulbs removed, I just have one for testing. So Dave, do you think my hypothosis and understanding is correct regarding EH1? Is there another earthing point that the interior ligh...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Regarding the electrics, I have disconnected the roof lights and indeed all upper circuitry by unplugging C145, which is the block connector up behind the glovebox (removed). I have also removed EH1 (C38), the earthing point besides the steering column and still the door lights work. Presumably it m...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Thanks for the reply. I think I understand where you're going with that; screws earthing to the body there? Currently the car is half stripped and no puddle lights attached but the roof ones are. I'll have a look tomorrow, weather permitting. Sills, yes. The only problem there is the couriers have c...

OK, I'll play. Re: Fastback's cars.

I may have been silent but I've still been busy. However, I have a problem (not the air-con on the Sterling, that's on a back burner for now) with the Vitesse. All the interior lights remain on all the time; I have a closed circuit. It doesn't matter if the car is fully locked or being driven, they ...

BMC / BL Show Gaydon 2020

I notice there is no mention of the show this year on here but it is going ahead tomorrow (6 Sept) and I was wondering if anybody on here is going? I am and thought it might be good to meet to a few folk, at a suitable social distance, of course.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

As was relayed to me by two older gents in the car refurbishing trade, when a walnut tree is past its useful life (lower yields for walnuts) it is harvested for the wood, some of which has burr or 'burr-like' properties and is then used in the car industry. I guess that is what they meant as a 'by-p...

Re: Remade bumper bracket

OK Scott. I appreciate schedules don't always fall into place. I realise there are fewer active members on here but it would be interesting to know demand. It would seem there is, judging by how the metal ones sell on eBay. We have two limos in the collection, a 12" stretch and a six door. Just need...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

I think burr walnut is a by-product of the walnut trade (coffee walnut cake anybody?) and as such is available. I recently bought some for the centre console project (still on-going but nearly complete) and got four sheets, 20 x 29cm, of genuine American burr walnut for £18. This would allow a mirro...
