Re: Account suspended

I think everybody has. It does make me slightly fearful for the site's future.

Perhaps the site owner and administrators could allay some of those concerns, please? It would be terrible to lose this fantastic resource, even if there aren't many active posters these days.

Re: Fastback's cars.

And we're back! No progress on the heat shield for the Sterling just yet, save to say I've got some 1·2mm ali scrap sheets that I can use. I have also got a good mid section that I can use as a template but sadly can't stick on the car. Here's a picture of the Vitesse cracked screen just for interes...

Re: Alucard7002 - Mk2b 820Si Fastback - Pic Heavy!

£1000! That's just been spent on having the windscreen replaced on my Vitesse! It would've cost £993·58! Just the excess for me of course but it's another £100 with really nothing to show and I could've done without.

In other news, the windscreen on the Vitesse has cracked with the cold.

Re: Fastback's cars.

Of course it is! It's not just round the attachment point, it's the end 4" or so that has completely flaked away. Like Dave says, it may be better to make it in rivoted sections: perhaps a bit clumsy but I can see it working. I could try to make in one piece, although it would be wasteful on m...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Thank you. Yes, pleased with the overall outcome and worth the 300+ miles to get it done. The heat shield that is disintegrating is the middle 'S' shaped one, labelled as '5' here, https://i.postimg.cc/dDpmhf91/Heat-shield-1.jpg The right hand end of that sits just above the join/bullet muffler. The...

Re: Fastback's cars.

At last, I can draw a (dotted) line under the exhaust saga. It's only taken most of this year. Collected the new back box from JP Exhausts in Congleton in the Vitesse. https://i.postimg.cc/Q9TQ5FtT/JP-exhausts.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/Hr8XFJwP/Vitesse-at-JP.jpg And given the couple of pleasant days ...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Exhaust update: The original chap I went to see has failed three times to contact me, so obviously not that interested. Shame. Still, one door closes another opens. Today I have travelled the 75 miles to JP Exhausts in Congleton. They are happy to make a system up similar to the original with regard...

Re: Fastback's cars.

I've not done any since day release to tech college over 40 years ago  .

Well, after I've finished my current plastering course, I shall have book myself in on a welding course.

Trouble is the MOT is due on the first of November... :(

Re: Fastback's cars.

Well as promised here is the exhaust update:

There is no update  .

The chap looked at the pictures and suddenly it's all got 'very complicated'. I just hope he doesn't give up on it. Surely there must somebody, somewhere who can make an exhaust?

Re: Alucard7002 - Mk2b 820Si Fastback - Pic Heavy!

Intersting. Never thought there was a particular problem with the clips which are still available from Rimmers. Is this your design Dusan? The original design is slightly compressable to give a tensioned 'spring fit' in the bracket, is this one just relying on a friction fit? What material have you ...

Re: Alucard7002 - Mk2b 820Si Fastback - Pic Heavy!

Never doubted you could do the big stuff! 8) It is basically impossible for me to do this type of work: no garage, no lifting tools, no drive, no nowt! And I live on a narrow, one way street on a hill with a major housing project at the end: HGVs bouncing up the road every few minutes so it's awkwar...

Nothing too exciting. Just the first part to arrive so on it went!

This is me showing my ignorance again: are these two parts directly comparable, just that the shiney one needs some plumbing mods?

If you don't ask, you don't learn.

Re: Alucard7002 - Mk2b 820Si Fastback - Pic Heavy!

What needs doing on the turbo one? Happy to take it on I've got space in December and a man with a P38 and Covered trailer  Hmm, let me think... everything. However, principally engine, gearbox and probably turbo refurb. The engine rattles, particularly in the low to mid 2000rpms and ...
