Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe

I'd make a guess that it's lost its oil via the missing filler plug thanks to that garages incompetence. Echoes of the story of the Volvo back axle! I hope it's fixable with a new set of bearings, seals and little or nothing else! Might be just as easy to rebuild the one with the Tor-Sen diff inste...

That's a nuisance Henrik! Is this the one with the missing filler plug?
Yes unfortunately. So I need to inspect the internals. :(
At least the neighbours cat isn’t missing so that wont be hiding inside the box.

Re: Manalishis 820 Vitesse Coupe

Stage 1: gearbox indoors. To rewind the Maxell c60 a few minutes: My ”new” gearbox started to sound like one of my Austin Sevens so I realized the bearings were shot. The plan is to clean, strip and to fit new bearings. https://i.postimg.cc/XBGVCF2C/6814-CA4-E-7-E93-439-F-AB52-E9559579-C285.jpg

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Brakefluid changed today and I could tell the brakes are better. Faster responding pedal and the brakes come on higher with less pedal travel. A few small tweaks left and then it’s off to the tester.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Sorry for lousy updating. New job and bad weather is to blame, but it isn’t just without progress. I’m getting the brakefluid changed on monday and hopefully that will bring my pedal back to life. Then the plan is a visit to the tester. It will fail no doubt but it means I will know what I’m looking...

Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Have they added the intermediate output shaft and equal length driveshafts from the 827 (or perhaps two equal length driveshafts from other 2/400 models) do you know Henrik? I'm looking forward to all your questions and Jims answers, also enjoyed the bits about the SRS ECU, i know very little about...

Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

thanks forJim, odd about the lack of circlip groove. Perhaps with the extra length of that driveshaft it's just not needed, even at full suspension droop. I've often wondered if a PG2 could be mated to a T-series, would be very useful on the turbo to eliminate torque-steer! I know of a 220 turbo co...

Very nice inside too - loads of instruments and gadgets to play with, do you need clearance from NASA for your journeys? :P

Like the Command Module of the Space Shuttle in there! :D
Yup! :D

Re: A hybrid on the driveway!

It’s still so new to me Dave so I’m learning too but it has three settings. Sport Normal Eco In sportmode the rev counter appears and the dash lights turns red. The mapping is more direct and it uses both electric and petrol for power. In the other modes the electric and petrol engines work together...

Re: A hybrid on the driveway!

Very nice Henrik! I'm a bit confused about something though, perhaps you can explain? If the engine is 296bhp and the motor is 200bhp, wouldn't adding them together give 496bhp? Does it work in a different wy so it only gives part of the electric motor power? Thanks Dave. To be honest I don’t know ...

A hybrid on the driveway!

For many years the dream has been to have a Lexus hybrid as the family saloon. The new model GS has better boot space compared to the old but it has been too expensive. But finally we decided to give it a go. The old Lexus is close to 15years and niggling faults were starting to appear, and a blow i...
