Re: New to me, 2011 Lexus IS220D F Sport

I'm sure the GS being a V6 will be a wonderful and sublime cruiser Henrik :D In the UK (unlike the US) we never got the IS350 - the 3.5 V6. If you compare the IS250 (2.5) V6 to the Rover 827, this engine in the IS is less efficient on combined mpg and overall has less bhp. For a more modern V6, the ...

Re: Charles's family owned from new Mk1a 827si

I would need to find a substitute to welding, in order to have these holes rectified.
In the old days where body repairs were done, lead filler was used.
Using this lead work isn't possible in the UK for health reasons.
There must be some alternatives and filling methods..

Re: New to me, 2011 Lexus IS220D F Sport

Thats good to hear Henrik - another satisfied Lexi owner! That's one thing about the IS - the boot is not capacious and plus if there is one downside to the car as a whole; the rear seats dont fold down flat. There is a compartment between the seats for holding skis (not that ive done ski sports sin...

Re: New to me, 2011 Lexus IS220D F Sport

Nice cars Lexus. I have a gs300 and the only complaint is the absence of feel when driving on the motorway. Its not a drivers car. But dead silent and comfortable! Completely agree; nice, comfortable silent cars. The diesel is surprisingly quiet and refined for a D. Can barely tell whats under the ...

Re: Charles's family owned from new Mk1a 827si

Sounds like all good stuff Charles! Have you got a new/good secondhand replacement front subframe to fit? Looked for one before without any joy. To be honest the original metal isn't too bad that it is beyond repair - few pin holes that could be filled in It doesn't need welding but I know subframe...

New to me, 2011 Lexus IS220D F Sport

I've meant to do a post about my (new to me) Lexus IS220D F Sport and so I got a spare few moments; here goes; I've wanted one of these cars for a while and I've vaguely expressed my interest in the brand here before. Been seeking to buy one as a daily in order to save the miles on the coupe. As it ...

Re: Charles's family owned from new Mk1a 827si

I've not spoken about the updates for this car for a while now. Work on this has been going on behind the scenes and it's never a forgotten project. As some might have read, I replaced the battery in the Mk2 coupe, thinking that Vauxhall trade battery was a dude. It turned out that wasn't the case. ...

Re: 800 Owners Club

I saw the website for the club Dave that your involved with in the intervening period. So I may have sounded misleading or contradictory. However, the website looks very professional and I urge you to keep up the good work and I wish you all the best with this new club. Hopefully the efforts will pa...

Re: 800 Owners Club

This is where compromise is needed in reality. Without compromise there are still wider divisions. It would interest me personally and others if there was a unified club where everybody is relatively happy with the said club. The technical expertise is important within the club itself. I know Dave S...

Re: 800 Owners Club

Dave Smart, unfortunately the timing hasn't come right given the circumstances your faced with. Can I put a question to you which you can choose to answer or not in more agreeable times? Would it not be better to attempt to work with Taniya to make a unified 800 club? Have you considered this before...

And further more; if this is the type of negative and lackluster mentality of any club (like what I previously mentioned) then I don't need or would be willing to be apart of it. Let me know if you would like me to close your account Charles I'll let you get on Simon. Your busy tomorrow. I've other...

Re: 800 Owners Club

Charles, of course you are entitled to an opinion but there are opinions and there is being rude. No one has suggested you need to apologise either or need to be sent an apology. However, unlike you I read every post on the forum and here is a quote from Dave Smart which might make you rethink your...

Re: 800 Owners Club

"Dave Smart could have done the courtesy of making and marketing the club outside social media. Because really, who searches for specific websites these days when everyone has 'Apps' on their Smart phones?? It does not surprise me I didn't hear about the new club. Dave Smart has never contacted on ...

Re: 800 Owners Club

Dave, its not that I think of you so lowly from a personal perspective - that's abit too extreme really. My experience of the knowledge on the facebook groups dedicated to these cars, is the opposite to what you suggest, or what your own experience of these groups may well be. However I wish you all...
