Re: The Vitesse is soon for sale
My son spotted it on eBay yesterday, tried to get me interested, but no going back for me I'm afraid (especially since it is in Devon!). £550 and a long MOT, got to be a bargain!

Re: 820 Vitesse sport hatchback in Nightfire red.
The diagnoser was an independent mechanic, there was no mousse or other signs of water in oil / oil in water. The main problem was excessive pressure build up in the expansion tank, it was like champagne even after a short trip. Temperature guage never wavered from "just below centre of normal" unti...

Re: North coast 500
Looks a great route, is there an organised event (couldn't find one on the website)? I'd not heard of this before, despite it being launched last year. I know a few people who might be interested in tackling it, none have an 800 unfortunately!

Re: 820 Vitesse sport hatchback in Nightfire red.
Nice work Steve! Feeling distinctly guilty about even suggesting scrapping her now. Seriously though, the work you have done is way beyond my capability and would have bankrupt me if I got someone else to do it. Hope you get loads of enjoyment out of that turbo and improved handling (and cooling!). ...

Re: 820 Vitesse sport hatchback in Nightfire red.
That's "my" car that is! I only just saw this, because I am still feeling bad about having to get rid of her to start with :( so have been avoiding this forum! There is way more than £450 worth in the work you have done and that doesn't include the money I spent just before the cooling system gave u...

Re: 1996 Vitesse Sport Fastback - Spares or Repair
Poor old Rover is sat at my parents house in Moreton-in-Marsh, on the Fosseway about 25 miles northeast of Cheltenham, 15 miles south of Stratford-upon-Avon. They are not keen on it cluttering their drive for long (there is history there I'm afraid), so need to get shot of it one way or other. Key (...

Re: wanted: both anti roll bars
There's a pair on a 1996 Vitesse Fastback that are likely to end up in the local scrappy in the next 2 weeks, unless some else takes on the head gasket job - see For Sale board for details!

1996 Vitesse Sport Fastback - Spares or Repair
Looks like head gasket gone. Engine runs, but not sure how far! 122,000 miles or thereby. MOT August. No other mechanical problems AFAIK. Some rust on wheel arches (O/S), paintwork generally a bit tired! (Nightfire Red). Usual electrical gremlins - sunroof not working, windows, dashboard lights and ...

Re: MOT success ..........
Good to hear that there are still some sensible (and tolerant) MOT testers out there. Enjoy the next 12 months with one less thing to worry about! Very pleased to say, I had a similar experience with mine; once the SRS light nightmare had been sorted and I found someone to torch off the rusted bolts...

Re: Scottish 2.0T Vitesse Fastback
In repsonse to : "What year was your 75? Asking because longevity was a subject posting on the 75/ZT forum. Kev" Had a dark blue, 75 1.8T Tourer SM53 VZG for a couple of years, loved the car - blew its head gasket, of course, followed by the turbo and then continued to loose water / overheat on a re...

Re: Scottish 2.0T Vitesse Fastback
Funny you should say that, took it in to the garage when she dumped all her power steering fluid over the street (after returning from Ireland happily), mentioned that the handbrake was iffy, so could they look at that at the same time. Garage reported back saying one rear caliper in-op and not repa...

Re: SRS Module / Steering Wheel Ring - Coupler?
Airbag ECU is what I am looking for - the steering wheel rotary contact / coupler is a back-up, as this may be the source of the original error code (it could just as easily be a flat battery / key in combo according to my running post on the Tech board. I am querying there if the AMR unit is the on...
