Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg

Well done Andy. I’m so glad the cars getting the TLC it deserves. I may even pop out your way for an evenings drive over the next few months. Spent a productive morning fault finding the ABS system on my Vitesse Coupe, one replacement front sensor later and it’s all good. Also needed to swap out a r...

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg

Hi Andy. Glad the Vitesse has gone to an enthusiast. Likewise I’m sure with your Sterling. I really didn’t expect to drive back from your place with another car, in fact as I left mine with the Vitesse on the trailer I stopped and said to Sophie something like “that’s one less” . Silly boy eh, but b...

Re: New Purchase

Having a spare half hour this morning before I take the dogs for a walk I thought I'd quickly run round the car with a camera. https://s18.postimg.org/phk4x0bvp/IMG_0029.jpg No rot at the top of the A posts https://s18.postimg.org/85odpjsf9/IMG_0030.jpg Front arches are all good and the alloys are i...

Re: New Purchase

Ha yes it does, but that would be cheating. Run is one way but if you break a record you immediately have to put your car into park ferme until the next day then repeat the run. Provided you achieve the same speed or higher in exactly the same mile zone (e.g. 1-2 2-3 3-4 4-5) then it's a new class r...

Re: New Purchase

It'll be individual runs over the 5 mile course. Car will be street legal and on pump gas (although not the US crap) No aerodynamic alterations to the body from original are allowed either.
The Red ones ok but it's a bit brittle and tends to melt pistons driven hard so I don't bother.

Re: New Purchase

For a class win it needs to be capable of over 280mph. It's going to take several years to get the car ready which is fine as it's an adventure I plan to have when I retire.

Re: New Purchase

The Rover Dave. The Red Monaros 635bhp and my black one will be (it's not finished yet) north of 1600bhp to be set up to run on the Bonneville salt flats. They're both a bit stupid to really enjoy tbh.

Re: New Purchase

Thanks guys, hg ordered. I'm doing the bearings on one of my supercharged Monaros first then it's the Rover. Really looking forward to driving it as the short blast I had in it felt really nice.
