Re: Clock Oil.

The clock now seems to have settled down after spraying the works with some maintenance spray and adjusting the pendulum. It now keeps perfect time again. This has saved me a ton of cash, as it cost me £80 19 years ago to have it looked at and fixed by a clock maker. A cheap fix indeed.

Re: Thunderbird 2 & The Green Machine

For your intermittent window problems, try re soldering every joint on the drivers door switch pack. It cured all my window problems.

"Build it and they will come!" Hope you are right on this one Mark. £40 a pair seems a fair price, given its a short run.

Re: Plastic bumper bracket

I doubt that you would see much demand for those items. I suspect that you could be stuck with many sets for many years. There are not that many 800:s left on the road now and its only us kooks on here that appreciate and still run them. When the channel sections on my car body splayed out, I found ...

Re: Scoobys Dogmobile - Take 2!

If it is your kind of car, does everything that you want and does not cost you an arm and a leg in bills, then I agree, stick with it. Good ones are becoming increasingly hard to find. Nothing wrong with treating a car as just a consumer item, that is what they are for, to get you from A to B. But s...

Re: Scoobys Dogmobile - Take 2!

I should bloody well hope so Chri5e, given the amount of time and work Dave has put into that car. Thats the reason I still have my 820. Its to get some return on the work and money I have put into it. In 2008, my car required major repairs and I bit the bullet and spent the money. With hindsight, I...

Re: Scoobys Dogmobile - Take 2!

Lots of good work there Dave. It would have driven me nuts working out all the things that could have caused the problem. Full marks for persevering and cracking the nut. I bet it feels like a different car now. I also have the exact same gas tester but I never found it to be all that accurate. It s...

Re: Clock Oil.

Now that the warm weather has gone for a while, the clock continued to lose 10 minutes every 24 hours. So two days ago, I sprayed the mechanism with a maintenance spray. That seems to have speeded everything up. It is likely that the main reason for the slow clock was that the heat dried everything ...

Re: Clock Oil.

Dave, your thinking is quite outstanding, I would never have thought of that, the pendulum lengthening ever so slightly in the heat. Quite brilliant! I knew I asked my question in the right place. Its been much warmer in the house this year, the walls were insulated 10 years back, and this is the fi...

Re: Clock Oil.

Thanks Dave. I had a thought after I posted and it seems there is plenty of info on the web. I need to catch up with the modern world! Yes, it does have a pendulum that is adjustable. I wound it up a turn so the mechanism should run a tiny bit faster but it still loses 10 minutes every 24 hours. I c...

Clock Oil.

I have a pendulum clock, powered by a battery. The clock will wind itself on the 1/2 hour and the hour. Last repaired 19 years ago at a cost of £80. It has started to lose time and I think that the summer heatwave may have dried it out internally. I would like to oil the mechanism. My question is: W...
