Re: Mk1 827 Si Saloon
Yeah it’s a shame but I just don’t use it. I might bung it in for an mot to see what it fails on My last MoT revealed the sub-standard job done by the previous person who MoT'd, welded and passed it - the floorpan is no longer connected to the inner sill panel! Long story but without a ramp, i can'...

Re: Mk1 827 Si Saloon
This car is now potentially for sale. Don’t really want to do it, but it really needs to go. Will put a proper advert up later.

Re: Fastback's cars.
I used Martrim when i recovered the headlining in my rover 200. Very helpful. They send me loads of samples too which was good.

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
Ive recently been introduced to this stuff...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Captain-Tolley ... 277&sr=8-1
Its really good at small leaks. Ultra thin, so not good for big gaps.

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
Ive just logged back in to the forum for the first time in ages. Very pleased to see the car is still going, horrified to read some of the trouble you have had! That butchery around the pedals wasnt me. I think i fitted a new washer and split pin? I remember thinking it was werid and not understandi...

Re: Mk1 827 Si Saloon
Wow, nearly 18 months since i updated this. Not much to tell really. I got asked to shift the car from the field about a year ago. So it sat outside unprotected under a tree getting covered in wibblepoo, leaves and generally turning greener than it already was. But i have just bought my first house...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
I took the head off as it was the easiest way to access the core plugs at the back of the head and as it had that oil leak from the front nearside corner. I replaced it with a klinger gasket. I didn’t have it skimmed as it hadn’t over heated and wasn’t leaking compression or water. Fingers crossed t...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
Previous owner just kept topping it up with fresh water, he didnt add any other additives or anything. I also replaced the o-ring behind the water pump housing alloy casting thing and the block. Did it actually lose water or just fail to circulate it? The other possibility is that the core plug behi...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
Oh no! Just seen this! Very sorry to hear the news. Yes water pump was from euro car parts. The o ring seals came from Rimmer Bros and were genuine rover items. I also used Hylomar blue on them as I thought that would help. Head gasket was an expensive metal one and I used new dowel plastic locating...

Sorry to hear the fag lighter isn't working. It was as I had my sat nav and dash cam in it, so hopefully something simple like a lose wire or a fuse?
