Re: Jeep talk

I never did anything special on the WJ. I bought it with a 2" lift already fitted (spacers) and practically every rubber bush totally shot. New bushes, mostly poly bushes, helped.

ARB bushes and drop links always seem to be Jeep weak spots

Re: Jeep talk

Later models may have had the NP249 (see below) Many lower spec ZJs will have been fitted with with NP242 (selectable 2wd/4wd which also includes a "full time" 4wd option for road u...

Re: Spray paint

Do you have any local automotive paint suppliers? There's 2 local to me and they would mix it there and then to match the code. I believe there's some online ones but I have no experience of any to recommend. The grey is called storm grey from memory. For the black I always used satin black. As Chr...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux

If the head has been skimmed, I wonder if it has been reassembled with the valve clearances too tight - leading to the valves not closing properly, leading to low compression. Low compression = less oxygen in the cylinder but if the injectors are still squirting in the normal amount of fuel, this co...

Re: Exhaust front pipe and flexi MK1 sterling

Websites like Car Builder Solutions (https://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/) who specialise in providing parts for kit car builders can supply things like flexi pipes in various sizes - I put one on my MGC's stainless exhaust. https://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/flexible-exhaust-tubing As for th...

Could I just take this opportunity to say thanks to everyone involved with getting these key components remade? The 800 is now a very rare car and your efforts are helping to keep them on the road :)

Re: Exhaust front pipe and flexi MK1 sterling

Very often, the best option is to get one custom made - ideally from stainless steel. The companies that do it may not be much more expensive than buying online

I won't mention my peak of 32C, then!

However, it does mean that I'm driving around in a Swedish-Finnish car with the roof down :)

I would have thought that a turbo inlet debris net would need to be so fine that it would be quite restrictive to the airflow

Re: New Astra

I've tried the Insignia - it's horrible. Almost everything about it was annoying - poor visibility, terrible mirrors, generally ugly, lot's of VERY annoying "safety"features.

I think the pump failed as in it stopped circulating water - probably the impeller separating from the shaft.
