Having owned both, the 800 is as worthy of being a Rover as the SD1 ever was.
Well, WE know that, but they clearly don't :)

Re: BMC/BL 2018

The SD1 club discussed becoming the SD1 and 800 club but decided that our cars weren't proper Rovers.

The Rover Sports Register are a good bunch who like the 800

Re: BMC/BL 2018

Some owners clubs seem to be run more for the benefit of the "management" than the members, as ego trips. The Metro Owners Club is the complete opposite of the 800 club - the club is friendly and helpful and the members (including a surprisingly high number of people who are younger than their cars!...

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Limited (1998)

On a good day I get about 18mpg from the V8 and low 20s from the 4L. Around own with aircon on it's a good bit less and more like 10mpg when off road

Re: Bjorn Again (another Saab convertible)

They're surprisingly small, it looks tiny compared to a Focus. It's an interesting rehash of a mk3 Cavalier.

The only real issue with it is the colour - my least favourite (after white). I'm hoping that it will turn out to be a reliable daily driver.

If you've swapped the lift kit to the other one what do you use this one for then?
They're 20 year old Jeeps - there's a fair chance that at any given time one will be broken

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Limited (1998)

There's definitely more torque than the 4L but it's also a noticeable bit heavier. The old, faulty 4WD transfer box was holding it back a bit because of the faulty viscous coupling. Overall it's better than the 4L in most respects but does use quite a bit more fuel

Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 Limited (1998)

Bought for about GBP 2000 about 2 years ago, it now has 300,000 kilometers on the clock (30,000 km more than when I bought it) but has been well looked after. It has full BLACK leather interior (ouch in summer), 5.2L V8 (massive 220bhp :) ) and was built in Graz, Austria and it's technically a ZG, n...

Re: Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ 4L (1996)

Update: I've still got this and it's still going well. The lift kit was swapped over to my main Jeep - a 1998 Grand Cherokee V8 - so this one is back to original springs and spacers. It's also running on new Bridgestone tyres. I've replaced as solenoid in the transmission to cure a delayed shift int...

Dropping the sump requires most of the subframe bolts to be removed and the remaining one to be loosened.
