Re: Hi All, new member here
The front suspension on an 800 is its achilles heel as it is its brilliance. Being co-developed with Honda in the early 80's the Japanese wanted the long low bonnet and insisted upon double wishbones up front to achieve it. (or so the summary of the story goes) The downside is that the standard 800 ...

Re: Hi All, new member here
You're right about the rattly trim. I gave up and just turned the radio up a bit more ;-) The front springs are ~50mm lowering springs of unknown age/brand but with a 50mm spacer on the bottom of the spring seat to return the front to normal ride height. The rear springs are the Police/Heavy Duty sp...

Re: Alucard7002 - Mk2b 820Si Fastback - Pic Heavy!
Just to say, this 800 is now mine! It's a hoot, handles a lot better than a car of this size and luxury should! Probably not much happening with it until I finish a distance-learning degree course in January, but then I can tinker merrily away. Glad you're enjoying the old girl! I went through 3 se...

See photo album
I've put a million photographs of ALL the spares that quite frankly I cannot be arsed to list here or eBay.
There is enough to keep an 800 running for 100k or more. (7 front ABS sensors and 3 fuel filler necks for instance)
I need the space literally and figuratively.

Re: Hello. >>> 1993 Rover 820i
I'd also vote for TPS. Throttle position sensor. As the car has 42k on the clock and has been laid dormant for some time before being recommissioned. It is possible that the part of track in the TPS that controls idle and light load has worn out prematurely. The full throttle test will determine if ...

Treated the old girl to a good wash, clay and wax yesterday as it was a nice day. Also hoovered out the inside for the first time in far too long  Had a bit of a hiccup on Friday with the ;ast working fob dying on me. I borrowed an E-Bike from work to get me home and came back on Saturday morn...

Re: Charles' early 92 827 manual coupe
Even better! That's £45 saved that you can use for the grease etc on the bushes/springs on the clutch pedal! I can't remember who it is/was but they had recently done some work on the clutch and/or gearbox and the clutch felt soft, not very long travel etc, generally as if the slave cylinder was on...

Re: Hello. >>> 1993 Rover 820i
Silly question but a 1993 early T16 with 42K on it will no doubt be suffering from sticky exhaust valves?

Re: Hello. >>> 1993 Rover 820i
have you tried the Throttle body stepper motor reset? Ignition on to position 2, press the throttle from 0 - 100% five times within 20s and you should hear the stepper motor going doolally as it relearns where the idle position is. Does it die under idle conditions only? Especially when dipping the ...

Is there not a "dog-bone" on the Vitty? I know there's meant to be a certain amount of movement in them or it could damage the bulkhead so you may find cold-cure PU is too "solid" for it. Certainly enjoying the beers! There is one on the vitty and you read my mind. I was thinking of using some card...
