Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold

Parts ordered! Thanks Dave(again!!!!) Ahhh life is good. Just been on my first proper journey. 40 Miles to my girlfriends last night, then 40 Miles back this morning (via McDonald’s in east grindstead for pancakes and coffee). Car goes great. Tracking is a bit off and brakes feel a bit wooden but ot...

Re: 827 Vitesse

I’d say the oil will be fine, considering most cars will go their entire design life on their original oil.

Re: Mk1 827 Si Saloon

This car has been trapped in the field shelter the last few month due to incredibly tall grass. Think waist high, brambles and thickets. Now field has been cut, I went to check on it. Whilst the field shelter has kept it warm and dry, it has lead to an unforeseen complication...House Martins! They h...

I bought some other that really didnt fit. Smooth surface on both buttons. Useless. Ye...

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold

Not as a critiscm purely curiosity, have you kept a running total on what you've spent on the car so far? I started to, but when i very quickly got to £800 (including original purchase price) i got scared and stopped counting. My estimate is £1000 to £1500. Yes i know i could buy one for that blah ...

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold

New radiator arrived. But unfortunately it has a hole in it for fitting a sensor which my car doesn't have. Apparently early cars have a rad fan sensor in the rad. Later cars like mine have the fan switched on by the ECU. The advice from Scooby on this forum is to fit a sensor and then wire it to th...

Re: Scoobys 827 Sterling aka "Project Galactic Dawn"

My new radiator has arrived for the 800 turbo. One slight problem is that it has a hole drilled in it for 1 sensor and the same kind of arrangement as yours! Do you know what bits i need to buy from rimmers to plug the hole? They do CDU1503 which is some kind of plug, not sure if i need the rubber g...

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold

I’ve been checking the tracking number and new rad should arrive on Thursday. You will either see a jubilant post on Friday night of a very happy James with running vitesse or a photo of toys thrown from a pram.

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold

Did an oil change. Used semi synthetic stuff and a quality Bosch oil filter. Old oil was pretty dark, but I guess its a turbo. https://i.imgur.com/RB9sXgi.jpg Pre filled oil filter. So easy to get access on this car and correct way up. Why are modern cars so shit? Especially Japanese and Volvo? http...

Re: Rover 820 Vitesse Sport Lux Gold

Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying this thread. I sold my Vitesse a year ago and whilst I do genuinely love my ZT, I don't think I've ever really got over the Vitesse (probaby explains why I'm still hanging around on an 800 forum!). If you do decide to sell, please consider me seriously inter...

You'll be telling us next you're going to rebuild the gearbox in your lunchbreak.
Excellent, excellent stuff.
Only the sloppy linkage!
