Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Ah, Website is back!
Update: TGM slave cylinder had gone. Replaced by local garage using a spare I had and all well again. They had a bit of difficulty bleeding it until the classic friendly owner helped the mechanic out.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

In the words of Victor Meldrew-"I don't Believe It!" Just got off the phone with my son who runs TGM, who has just told me his clutch pedal won't come up, so it looks like I'll be buying a job lot of clutch master cylinders. Lucky we have both got spare cars! We replaced that one about 2 years ago! ...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

I remember now that the fluid was changed at the MOT as he had to fit a second hand master cylinder and two rear discs and needed help getting the pistons in as he hadn't undone the bleed screw. Having said that, I have just looked in the reservoir again and it is definitely manky!

Hopefully the slave! Much easier to change out. Don't know when the fluid was last changed but will give it a bleed at the weekend when checking the slave.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Clutch pedal on TB2 feeling a bit strange and having to be "helped" back up sometimes. Think the master cylinder may be on they way out. They don't seem to be readily available at sub £100 prices. Hope it holds out until I get back on Friday, as I'm working away this week.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Thanks Dave.
I'll check it out.
It only started recently but may be connected with the bump which sent the speedo mad. (He hit a pothole avoiding a van).

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Just tried to run the diagnostic. On start up it does display "Er" but when I press "Auto" then "Off" it just turns off without displaying anything? Hang on, maybe I have to press and hold "Auto" while pressing "Off". That was it. Badly written procedure! Press and hold "Auto" then press "Off" and t...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Update on TGM.
OSF wheel bearing has been changed and the noise has gone! Air con was recharged a couple of weeks ago and still nice and cold. 1st recharge since we bought it. It's still haunted though... Air con beeps now on start up but stops when you press "auto".

ETA: Local garage did it.

It's OSF and after spinning the wheel, there's no play but a definite rumble. Have one on the way.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Update on TGM. Bought a new transducer and the speedo still jumped about or not at all. We were off on a long trip to Cheshire and I noticed that the speedo was reading steady but twice what it should. My son confirmed that it had been reading steady but high for a few days. We then travelled down t...

Epic! Fantastic work.
If you have any spare ABS sensors available, I may need some for TGMs next MOT. Please PM.

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

Thanks Dave. I'll see what the diagnosis is re the A/C. Beeps while door was open - Ha! Yes that would be it. I dislike dismantling trim as they seem to enjoy having hidden fastners or "look at it and it breaks" tabs on plasticy stuff!. I'll have a look in the manual to see how difficult it is to re...

Re: Thunderbird 2, The Green Machine & Turbo Coupe

A bit of Bank Holiday maintenance. TGM continues to be haunted. Speedo only working intermittently, so I bought a new transducer. I had the same issue with TB2 and that solved it. Not with TGM. driving at an indicated 148 then zero then 90 down the bypass was a failed tests run! 55 through the villa...
