Re: Back in business
No idea - I know it's still quite buggy (I've not had notifications - other than those for private messages - working for many years, and every page is covered in text that says "[phpBB Debug] PHP Warning: in file [ROOT]/vendor/twig/twig/lib/Twig/Extension/Core.php on line 1266: count(): Parameter m...

My perennial favourite is loose/corroded connectors on the starter motor. Easy to check too.

Re: Social media forums
Do you mean the trick of welding the slot up so you can redrill the original hole to regain your proper clutch pedal Adrian? If so that's been mentioned on here quite a few times over the years. No, the usage of a sleeve/bush to resolve the missing plastic: https://www.facebook.com/groups/Rover800/...

Re: Social media forums
Same as you Mark - I've joined the forum(s), albeit under another name as I don't use Facebook for anything non-car related and haven't found it much use for anything other than parts.
One exception to that is the tip about refurbing my clutch pedal - that was a great find, very useful!

Re: LPG price increase
Ouch! That's a grim jump, especially coupled with a tailing off in usage and therefore availability.

Gone for it - polybush D bushes and damper mounting bushes.
Will report back

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
If you slacken the drop link bolts while the car is on the ramps (don't jack it, you need the weight of the car on the wheels to tighten suspension bush bolts) then swap the D bushes, tighten the D bush clamps and then the drop link bolts, job done. The drop links always sit at an odd angle, i thin...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
Just used marks link to the Powerflex site to check on something i thought i remembered. I remembered right, they do a harder set of poly bushes for the 800 as well including (to use their description) lower shock mounting bushes : https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/uprated/powerflex-black-poly-bushes...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
The D bushes are reltively easy to replace, drive onto a pair of ramps, crawl under with bushes and a 13mm socket, 4" extension and a ratchet. Undo the two bolts holding each clamp on (same as Rover 75 rear ARB D bush clamps), pull the clamp off the D bush, spread the D bush and pull it off the ARB...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
Is it worth considering Powerflex poly bushes? I fitted them (purple) to the front of my Vitesse. Yes, they're more expensive but firms things up a bit and they will last. https://www.dcperformance.co.uk/cheap/601109/rover/powerflex-poly-bushes/pff63-803-26.html Yep - definitely one of the areas I'...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux
He did show me the movement - it was where the bottom of the damper met the lower arm. So that's 3, right? Damnit - pricey and a swine to replace I imagine. I wonder if they can be polybushed? I'm still in 'tighten up the drive' mode at the moment, so really don't mind a firmer ride. Everything else...
