Re: Fastback's cars.

Veneer is available on eBay, where else (£5 a sheet or less)? This guy is selling loads of thin stuff; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CONSECUTIVE-SHEETS-OF-AMERICAN-BURR-WALNUT-VENEER-15-X-22-cm-AM-63-MARQUETRY/283463064588?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 And again, it looks O...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Continuing with the redesign of the centre console, I have come up with this;

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Remember Henrik, if you need them, I do have sills available. As everybody who has used them will testify, they are perfect. Could save a lot of time and effort. We don't profit a fortune from them, it's more of a philanthropic thing and if your welding yourself, very cost effective. I sent mine to ...

Re: Fastback's cars.

It is the hard plastic which I also don't like, it's just cheap :x . In effect, I have already started on the centre console. Drastically what I have done is is fill all the gap joins with Gorilla glue  . The glue has expanded into the joins and removed the flex. I have also put it on the pla...

Re: Fastback's cars.

The reason I took the SLF off was to sort the rear window out as I believe it was leaking. Although interesting reading about the rubber hatch seal. I have wondered about this also but thought water would effectively be flowing uphill. I did smear grease in the seal as a precaution. Having had the s...

Re: Fastback's cars.

It is certainly interesting. Whether a domestic vacuum would be powerful enough and possibly smaller holes than a peg board if you're going to make one. I've got some fabric left over, I could send you a piece. Anyway, having done my SLF I set about the 'A' and 'B' trim. Here is the 'B' trim before;...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Dave, here are a couple of photos that clearly shows the difference between normal vinyl and 4 way stretch vinyl. https://i.postimg.cc/kDhSyhNQ/SLF-16.jpg https://i.postimg.cc/4nrdyCbS/SLF-17.jpg On the top image you see that I had to insert a fillet round the compound curve (a compromise I was prep...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Just consulting the 'Rover 800, the complete story' book, there looks to have been three different spoilers. Yes the one on mine shown was 'standard' but still not all all fastbacks. The skirts are from an 820 Turbo as I think the rubbing strips are but not sure. Mk1 Vitesse also had different bumpe...

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

I think this was part of the 'Tickford' body kit. If you notice the side rubbing strips are different and it has side skirts. Bit of an 'end of line' job. Wish I'd kept the skirts though.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

Which Mark? Sadly I don't think me as the Mk2 spoiler is different. I did have Mk1 but that spoiler was just a little lip.

But looking at your pictures, I'd undoubtably I'd say there should be a blanking plug.

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux

I think as I've mentioned before the previous owner of my Vitesse installed a switched fan. I removed it and replaced the relay behind the driver headlight with a new one. That solved my problem but I assume there is another issue with yours? Personally, I couldn't understand why he went to all the ...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Basically, my understanding is that it stretches round difficult contours with greater ease because the fabric backing has a greater elasticity. I have done one of my SLFs today and certainly it is much better to shape. It's too late now but I'll put some pictures on later and show the differences. ...

Re: Fastback's cars.

Yes. Martrim unfortunately doesn't do any other colour than black but AS:trim do https://www.as-trim.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=6_328 I was previously unaware of this company and they seem to do some unique products as well as the normal stuff. Actually spoke to them, gave some useful inf...

Re: Fastback's cars.

It's a different kind of clip on the headlining trim, one that really, REALLY only wants to go in and never come out. That said I got one out; bent the metal work, ie the roof, in doing so. I think there are four overall and then pins in the hatch opening. I assume it was a case of slide in then pus...
