Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

If I had the space I would have a blasting set up, plating I have done locally, that should be it for a while the car is pretty much back together till I get another bright idea and pull it apart again. I have seen your post but at the moment the pedal feels perfect, I bled it 3 times to be sure but...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Thanks chaps. One job always leads into another with older cars. The ABS sensor lead brackets needed to be altered slightly, I needed to cut one section off and replace it with a little bracket for the new pipes to clear a raised edge. They were pretty rough so were blasted and plated. https://bluen...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

You never know, one day. Change of plan with the brake pipes. I was not happy with the flares to the cut Rover pipes inside the car. I think the originals must be steel and were quite hard to flare, I bought a hand held flaring tool for inside the car but it took several attempts to get a decent fla...

Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

More excellent work Jim! It's often crossed my mind you couldn't enter your car in a concours d'elegance because for that they have to be original but IMHO it should win a prize for being one of the tidiest and best (from an engineering POV) modified cars. :D Thank you Dave, much a...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

A bit more done to the Rover. The recently restored bonnet catches came out so well, the latches got the same treatment, stripped, blasted and zinc plated with new titanium bolts. https://bluengreen.net/IMG_5615%20900px.jpg Latches fitted with a new aluminium bonnet switch bracket to replace the ste...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Thanks Marc.
I have started on a new website for my Rover, it is early days yet but I can expand and edit more easily with this new site so hope to add much more general Rover content.

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic

Your Rover club gathering is really impressive, it makes me proud to be a Rover owner, the quality of the cars and the setting is wonderful. Well done for having your car featured again, it is becoming quite a famous car internationally and rightly so for the amount of time and effort you put into k...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Thanks Lodein, Im committed to the new aluminium one now, it is quite solid compared to the standard pastic tank. Thats handy to know about the shared parts, thanks. A few more parts going back on, radiator and fan, oil cooler, wiring routed. I made some new shiny aluminium brackets with holes for t...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

If its good enough for Rover its good enough for me. The original plastic PAS reservoir developed a small leak years ago so bought a universal aluminium replacement, it is heavier than the standard tank but I made an aluminium mount to replace the steel mount to compensate. https://bluengreen.net/PA...

The door top seals that run up the A pillar along the roof and down the C pillars had probably never been off in 27 years. https://bluengreen.net/IMG4061 900px.jpg https://bluengreen.net/IMG4070 900px.jpg Cleaned and ready to refit https://bluengreen.net/IMG_4782 900px.jpg https://bluengreen.net/IMG...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Despite the car being in such great condition for its age there were a few rust spots around brackets and bolt holes in the front panels and bumper bar so these had to be repaired. This also led to more unused wiring removed from the front harness (450 grams!) https://bluengreen.net/IMG_4246 900px.j...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Thanks Marc. Work has slowed a little due to the hot weather and recent jobs not very interesting so updates are a bit slow. Removing more unused wiring from the front looms, re-making some old brackets. The plastic PAS resovior has been leaking very slightly for years so looking at a replacement. T...
