I would imagine the electrics may be useful though although the fusebox may need binning. Who wouldn't mind rear electric seats and a full trip computer in their Mk1. I do agree though that with that amount of corrosion visible the underneath would be ferric swiss cheese.

I've seen a few well cared for examples for sale recently at between £1,000 and £2,000. A red Mk1 820i was up for £1,500 and it was spotless.

I got a good condition used one a couple of years back after I had a little accident in my car. The original one just crumbled away. Luckily that prevented the crash cans from getting bent.
