Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic

That is brilliant, your Vitesse looks so proud sat there with such rare classics.
I like what you said earlier in this thread that you will keep your Rovers forever, I feel the same, especially now they are so rare, even over here.

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

It was just the thread section at the top of the stud and nut that had picked up and seized so once that area was removed as in the "during the operation" picture the nut spun off easily, so yes I was fortunate in that way, could have been worse, cheers.

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Cheers Dave, had a good look behind the wheel for access, there is no way I could do anything without causing some damage. So attacked from the front. This is the seized nut. http://rovervitesse.com/Wheel%20nut%201a%201100px.jpg Plenty of tape to protect my refurbed wheels from grinder slips. http:/...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

The old Vitesse emerged from the garage for the first time since about October last year and got its first road test on the new set up to the MOT station, everything worked and to that point nothing loose or fallen off, MOT passed which is always good. I forgot how noisey it is inside, not so much e...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

I know your pain with mountain bike brakes! I've got a pair of 4 pot Hope brakes on mine with a 203mm front disc and 183 rear. Stops perfectly and modulation like you won't believe, but keeping them aligned thus quiet is proving nigh on impossible! Spot on, I think caliper alignment is my problem o...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Thanks Jim - that link goes to a page of about half a dozen different bushes, can you remember exactly which ones fit the original "D brackets or are new brackets needed? (Again there's several choices of brackets as well!) Thanks again! You need the brackets and bushes, I got mine from ebay, they ...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Thanks Chris, Dave. Wheel balance is fine, there was no vibration or pedal judder until hard braking with hot brakes, then hard braking caused everything to shake from steering wheel, brake pedal, windows the lot. I have a thing with front brakes, my mountain bike has front brake problems to, I have...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

Hopefully this is the final part of the front brakes repair to cure the judder, to reface the discs while they are fitted to the car removing any warpage that is in the disc and to remove any run out caused by the hubs. I fired up the Mad disc lathe with specially made wooden floor stand so it can b...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

:D now there is an idea Unfortunately there is a problem with the bolts so they are back off the car till the weekend then will be refitted with new bolts. For now I think the rears are ok, I might have to fit improved pads in the future but most of the braking in done at the front, just cant wait t...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

No problem, new disc bells arrived this week, these are much better made and have a spigot for the wheel to mount to, and a nicer colour. http://rovervitesse.com/Rover%20Vitesse%20disc%20bells%202a%201100px.jpg http://rovervitesse.com/Rover%20Vitesse%20disc%20bells%202b%201100px.jpg http://rovervite...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

The reason for changing to coilover and moving the spring is there are no spring options for setting up with the standard spring, just a few aftermarket lowering springs with no data or spring rate info. I looked at altering the lower arm to use 2.25 springs but there isnt the space. Strength wise I...

Re: Re: 1994 BRG Vitesse Fastback

N/S/R suspension is now back on, still got the other side to fit but it all seems ok and the new damper and spring clear the wheel and tyre. http://rovervitesse.com/Rover%20Vitesse%20rear%20suspension%20built%201a%20e1%201100px.jpg http://rovervitesse.com/Rover%20Vitesse%20rear%20suspension%20built%...

Re: Forum upgrade and new look

It is going to take a bit of getting used to but it looks good to me, probably could do with a little bit of colour somewhere on the page but maybe once the header picture is set it will look more complete, I do think it is an improvement and easier to use though, thanks.
