I've never been a fan of Strombergs - a Triumph-inspired, less reliable version of SUs in my opinion.
A good condition SU is a fine piece of kit but American carbs work well on American engines

Looking at the circuit, you can feed the switch from a power supply that is live once the key is turned (it could be almost anything) and leave the switch in the ON position at all times, unless you actually want to switch the clutch off.

I'm still looking at convertibles, going to look at an old Astra on Saturday all being well.

Probably a safer bet than the Saab, although probably fewer specialists to help with parts and used spares.

Anything involving the aircon and turbo on the 9-3 is a bastard to work on
