If you've fitted a sherpa flywheel did you fit the it with the intention of using the sensor in the same position ? From memory there are two different types of standard flywheel for these engines so you need to be sure on this. Personally ii'd keep it simple and just go with sourcing a known Good C...

mine has two round plugs on the front under the king lead. my spares do not. Oh, You are talking about the coil. Thats an early one isn't it. I think that changed around 1990 to the one connection. nothing to do with manual or auto,or the igniter, just a later coil. there are these on ebay... eBay ...

intermittent starting issue, the only spare ignition units I have are for Auto's not manuals, so don't have the two plug points. Anyone fancy trading a believed good auto igniter for a manual one (unit on inner wing) (came from Mr Ellis' stock of spares some time ago) Mal. The igniter is universal....
