Re: Rover 825 Sterling Diesel Coupe

The front shocks are common across the range from start to finish (1986-99) except for Vitesse models being slightly shorter because of the 20mm lower suspension. The rear shocks are different on Mk1s and also regardless of age/model are handed but any Mk2 shock will fit your coupé although again i...

Re: Rover 825 Sterling Diesel Coupe

thanks Tom, I thought it would be a good idea to take photos and take some of the mystery out of those drains plugs.

Re: Rover 825 Sterling Diesel Coupe

The car has never caused me to have a breakdown :) ...but the caravan saga was pushing it a bit. Thanks for the info on the shocks. I have found a few suppliers of gas versions including TRW, KRB, Bilstein and Sachs. Need to make sure they are the right ones before ordering though. Whatever I order ...

Re: Lancaster Insurance NEC Classic Motorshow 2016

Your suggestions regarding parts...that might well be worth having a new thread over, I will pass on your information to the committee members. You are certainly right, an official owners club should have more weight when it comes to dealing with smaller production runs. I remember once seeing Rover...

Re: Rover 825 Sterling Diesel Coupe

I have been quiet since the sunroof episode...mainly becuase I got caught up restoring a caravan or two...another story. I did have a breakdow too after a newly fitted belt gave out on the motorway...wasn't a cheapy either. It was only replaced a few weeks before at the same time as the fuel pump. h...

Re: Lancaster Insurance NEC Classic Motorshow 2016

Thanks for the reply Dave, dont worry I did not see your post as being personal and thanks for explaining and giving me the opportunity to address the issues you mentioned 1) Sorry about the edit - it was actually only a single word changed, in hindsight and as you poited out not a great idea as it ...

Re: Lancaster Insurance NEC Classic Motorshow 2016

sincere appologies to anyone was offended by my words above regarding 800.info members appearance at shows when i first bought my current 800- I certainly did not mean any disrespect to those longtime members who have given so much with regards to knowledge and information. As I mentioned before - r...

Re: Lancaster Insurance NEC Classic Motorshow 2016

Just wanted to add something as an 800 owner regarding the one or two negative comments about the club. When I bought my most recent 800 a couple of years ago there was zero 800 prescence at shows, no owners club and just a handful of members on here that were mildly interested in going to shows. I ...

Thank you.

Dave I will check in case I took a photo with the cable visible.
Deano - appologies. It was proving difficult to get to you. plus, water was still pouring in on my head - so when the ebay one came up for £65 I took it.

Sunroof repair / clearing drain channels Part II

Next is to clear those drain tubes. There are four in total. 2 in the boot and 2 inside the front foot wells. These are hard to get to! I also ordered a replacement sunroof assembly and fitted it this Friday. For the fist time I can now open the sunroof! https://g-a.d-cd.net/7420376s-960.jpg remove ...

Sunroof repair / clearing drain channels Part 1

I hate it when things do not work as they should. The sunroof has been siezed ever since I bought the car. It is suposed to slide and tilt, but does neither. The motor is ok so the mechanism must be jammed. The other problem is water tends to gather in the footwells. Its a common problem on the 800....

Re: Bmc and Leyland show at gaydon 3 july

Tomorrow is the last day to get your Application Forms in. There is still time to do it via email and will only cost you £7 for your car and two people. http://www.britishmotormuseum.co.uk/BMC-and-Leyland-2016-Application.pdf Most owners club members will have already recieved one, but anyone not in...

Re: Rover 825 Sterling Diesel Coupe

Thanks for your kind words. I had thought about keeping the spare pump, but normally an injector pump will outlast the engine - its probably failed because the car has been off the road so many years in the past....something that will never happen under my ownership. Also, I only use shell or esso f...

Re: Rover 825 Sterling Diesel Coupe

Just had a call from the guy who originally quoted me. He has agreed to meet half way on cost. So the total is £197. Still more than the original quote but better than double. Still wont get the pump back until next Tuesday though.
