Re: Battery Desulfator
After leaving the battery off charge this morning for a couple of hours, I checked the voltage again and it was 10.68. So it has recovered 0.5 bolts but this is obliviously not enough. Dave has suggested that I might need to charge it for 3 weeks before I can look forward to recovery. This is probab...

Re: Battery Desulfator
As far as I can see, all the cells are gassing at about the same rate. I have just taken the battery off charge and it reads 13.09 volts. I have left the desulfator connected and the battery seems to be powering it, at least, the light on the unit is flashing. I will check the voltage again in the m...

Re: Battery Desulfator
My thanks to Dave for the education about how to cut and paste ebayl pictures. My battery has now been on charge for 6 days and the voltage seems to have settled down to 13.12 and the cells are starting to gas more strongly. My feeling is to leave it charging for one more day and then to leave it st...

Re: Battery Desulfator
Will do Dave. I had my bike battery connected for 24 hours 2 days ago and it now shows 13.05 volts which is better than the 12.6 it was showing before. I put my dud car battery on today. It showed 10.22 volts and I will leave it now for a week and then try a new reading. I am hopeful that is does no...

Re: Ford Mondeo 2.0 Litre Auto.
Thank you gentlemen, your thoughts are appreciated. My Mondeo does indeed have the smart charging system. But it only works when the car is in regular use. I now only use it one week out of two, for two or three local runs. It really has been hard to choose between the two cars. I had to spend aroun...

Re: Battery Desulfator
Thanks for the link, that was indeed an interesting read. Seems that some people recommend to charge the battery first, then let the desulfator discharge the battery to 80% charge, then recharge, then repeat the cycle. That is one way, when one has a pretty good battery to start with. Otherwise, wit...

Re: Ford Mondeo 2.0 Litre Auto.
Thanks for the links Dave, those prices look quite reasonable to me. I always go for a battery that has lots of cold cranking amps (CCA) My last battery for the Rover was a Lion brand with 560 CCA. The book recommends 480 CCA so I am on the safe side. Looked it up and it came from a factory in Korea...

Battery Desulfator
Has anyone got experience of using a battery desulfator? How does one connect the gadget to the battery? Is it correct to first charge the battery, then remove it from charger, and then connect the Desulfator to the battery, until it is down to 80% charge, then recharge the battery to full again and...

Re: Ford Mondeo 2.0 Litre Auto.
Cant say that I noticed that he seemed a bit Brahms and Liszt Dave but now you mention it. Reckon you are on to something with the commutator and brushes sticking, this may well be what happened. I charged the battery for two days and the cells gassed strongly but I may find a garage to give it a di...

Re: Ford Mondeo 2.0 Litre Auto.
Been puzzling about those gremlins all evening Dave. Cant imagine that my 820 would ever behave like that as it has a much simpler construction. I did try flooring the accelerator on the third try in case I had flooded the engine after 2 aborted starts. Like my high idle problem with the Rover, I ma...

Re: Ford Mondeo 2.0 Litre Auto.
At 4 PM. I went out to the car after viewing some YouTube videos. In a video I came across, a mans car had all the symptoms of a dead fuel pump. After charging the battery, it came back to life. Tried starting my car and it fired up straight away after leaving the battery on charge for 5 hours. My o...

Re: Ford Mondeo 2.0 Litre Auto.
Ob the plus side, my Haynes manual popped up where least expected. Two months back, the wife had a big clear up. That is deadly because you never find things after that as every fool knows.
