Re: Fastback's cars.
That's very different to when i did my Sterling Mark. That had a red backlight (as per all dash lights etc) and individual LEDs, all red so i changed them to blue for P & N, green for forward ranges and red for Reverse. Interesting idea re different colour LEDs. I'm pretty certain (but willing to b...

Re: Fastback's cars.
I don't know how much of an issue this with the autos but on two of our cars, with evidence of two more in the collection having had this problem, the gear selector panel LED fails, the one that illuminates 'P, R, N, D' etc. If the fibre optic ribbon is not damaged, then replacing the LED is not tha...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Thanks Dave. I think my brother has caliper spreaders but if not, I'll take you up on your offer. And whilst we're in that area, I have an update on my clutch for the Vitesse. Reading the ideas on here and about pointing the bleed nipple upwards, I've taken it to a new level; literally. I couldn't w...

Re: Fastback's cars.
The clutch pedal has not improved, in fact it's got worse. We're all the way to the floor to change again and is sticking half way up. Same issue as most people on here, I can't believe a simple process is so hard. Reading earlier posts, as well as raising, turning etc, many suggest locking the pist...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Happy New everyone and hope you all had a very pleasant Christmas. Managed to get the clutch slave cylinder swapped over (Vitesse) but of course the problem is with the bleeding afterwards. Having looked through the forum, many people have had similar, with various solutions suggested. We were able ...

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Wheel looks good. And good idea regarding the seat. Strangely, I want to modify the sun visors. I have always thought the heat sealed vinyl looked cheap. I've got some grey textured vinyl, some roof liner material and a donor visor and I'm going to see if a local car upholsterer can stitch something...

Re: Fastback's cars.
No major hurry, Dave, other than the desire to draw a line under it (as if we ever can with our cars ). As you suggest, January is preferable. Stick it on the 'To do' list.
Cheers.
Cheers.

Re: Fastback's cars.
Wow! Rare beast indeed. Well the answer, unsurprisingly is, yes please. Sorry Adrian :( . PM me with what you want for it cost including postage. If the scuttle panel is still available and if you are able, that would be smashing too. If youy need to purchase a 'plank' to screw it to, then obviously...

Re: Fastback's cars.
A very familiar scenario for many people, I'm sure. https://i.postimg.cc/rzypZv6r/Pic-1.jpg Broken clips on the rear tray. This has been loose for years on my mother's car and part of putting it back together is dealing with issues like this. I designed a part to mimic what was there originally (the...

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
A lot was done this on the 827 Vitesse this year. The next project on this Rover is already around the corner. haha. But more of that later. Ooh, intrigue! While some 800s get to hibernate, others are out there working hard. https://i.postimg.cc/K3RM65Sm/Tow-Job.jpg Your Vitesse looks exemplary, Ma...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Thanks. I made it into a supermarket carpark with the Vitesse last night and put it in the furthest corner out of the way. Of course it is one of those monitored affairs with 1½ hrs allowed. I informed the store that I had broken down but they said that that side of things was outof their control, s...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Thanks, guys. Unfortunately I have temper the good with bad. I dropped my mother's car back to her and therefore collected the Vitesse which was on her drive. Driving the Vitesse home the slave cylinder failed completely, unable to select gears pedal just falling to the floor  . Didn't make it ...

Re: Fastback's cars.
Two bits of good news: FIrst my Sterling passed its MOT last week :D . Having been given the 'surprise list', I looked at the rear brake line myself, rubbing it back with wire wool. I don't believe there is anything wrong it, no pitting, no signs of weakness. Just to be on the safe side a coating of...

Re: Fastback's cars.
I actually think that once they found the loose track rod, instant fail, they stopped inspecting. I'm pretty sure that's not how it's supposed to work. Shame, because I've had a reasonable experience with the tester over many years. It's all they do, no spanner wafting, no incentive to fail. They hi...
