Re: 1996 BMW Compact 316i AUTO
I hope that we are all enthusisasts for all (most ?) cars? I'm actually pleased that the forum members have always shown an appreciation for a wide range of cars - you don't find that everywhere on the 'net. The Compact is "distinctive" but was a significant car because it opened BMW up to a wider ...

Re: 1996 BMW Compact 316i AUTO
Don't delete the thread. I had some stick for my passion for modern big Citroens Renaults a while ago. It's only fair we Brummies (I am an ex Brummie from Handsworth) should stick together. I sold my 750i 12 months ago but that seemed to be acceptable to the folks here. Good luck with the sale - it...

Re: 1996 BMW Compact 316i AUTO
It looks like a Manx cat. Really clever and amusing. I am proud to own this car and I know from experience that it is actually rather good at getting from A to B, reliably, cheaply and in comfort. I thought we were all car enthusiasts here, not just Rover enthusiasts? May be I should just delete th...
Re: New skip

Re: What annoys you on the road?
I agree with you about finland. I think Driving lessons have always been only about teaching you to to pass the test, not about making you a good driver. I was led to believe that over the last few years the test has become harder, now there is a sort of exam as well etc, but that may be incorrect? ...

Re: What annoys you on the road?
.. I think the main problem seems to be that people are in such a rush these days that they feel they need to drive everywhere 2" from the car in front and create a general hazard on the road to get to their destination 1 minute earlier. If only people would chill out and realise that you don't get...

Re: What annoys you on the road?
That's the beauty of driving a 12 year old Lexus. It's anonymous and worthless and far from precious. The more banged it is getting, the more I am enjoying it. That's a good attitude to have I think. I do try to think like that, but I find it quite hard, car park dings/scuffs are the one thing that...

Re: What annoys you on the road?
New Audi drivers are bad, but for some reason, the worst drivers I have seen in the last few years are always in newish VW Passats. Agree with most of teh above comments, re tailgaters etc. But, car parks are by far the worst imo. The worst thing, the absolutely unforgivable thing, is those selfish ...

Re: Chat about cars you've been in lately
I guess the 1 series isn't practical, true. But, then the same goes for the modern Mini and they are everywhere! I personally think the 1st gen 1 series looks good, purposeful like a BM should, I was horrified when I recently saw the new 2nd gen version though, completely ruined the design imo, a ho...

Re: Chat about cars you've been in lately
Forgot to mention - I drove a mates Ferrari Testarossa once, which was, obviously awesome, in everyway. It just felt exciting, special and exotic. But, I would not want to own one in this country, it would get vandalised and too many speed cameras and bad roads, plus idiots in car parks who open the...

Re: Chat about cars you've been in lately
In answer to an earlier post, I haven't been in a BMW 1 Series, but I do really like the design - it's one of the very few 'modern' cars I like the look of and is the only 'Chris Bangle' modern BMw I like the look of. So I sometimes consider buying one as I like BM's, in the end though, the fact tha...
