Re: Another car on the drive
The rear ARB I've fitted has definitely helped but not enough. I've been told the front ARB is hollow so that can't be helping? I don't have the inclination to do it myself. I'd want an underslung tank ideally, assuming that's doable on a WJ. My mate had an XJ like that with a smaller petrol tank. W...

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
He can't be an expert on everything I guess, know what you mean though. Off the top of my head he mentioned a 60/40 rear seat in the 800. Which at that age it wouldn't be. I'm sure something else stood out as well but can't remember now. Not sure why you'd compare a manual with an auto? My dad had a...

Re: 1989 Rover 827 Vitesse automatic
Hard for me to say as I've never driven an SD1. He has his tastes as do we all? For me I would need to test comparable cars. So probably a twin plenum Vitesse SD1 and a MK1 827 Vitesse? Both with manual boxes for me. My dad always told me I wouldn't like an SD1 as they felt old compared to an 800.

Re: Another car on the drive
It's too jiggly, not sure springs can help that? It's coils all round, it's just old school tech and will never be like anything modern. I think driving our Astra has distorted my view of it as well. Spoilt by having a new car makes a 17 year old car feel very old. Even worse with the Jeep being old...

Re: Another car on the drive
Interesting, I may take another look at a front one then.
Aside fuel consumption, the ride is the one thing that really let's it down day to day.

New plan, the Corsa has gone. 'er indoors decided she didn't like it after using it for work. So we've sold it.
Now trying to find another Astra.

Re: 1982 Rover 3500 V8 Vanden Plas automatic.
The SD1s were indeed an excellent car Chris, i'd love another but finding one in good condition in the UK is firstly a lottery and secondly, if you do, you'd need a lottery win to buy it! Once upon a time you couldn't give them away though! Like a lot of cars I guess. He had 3, all V8s. He then put...

I keep looking at SD1s, my dad had a few when I was a kid.
Maybe one day.

Re: Coupé Spares - free to good home!
To an extent that's always been the case with these cars I'm afraid Charles.
Believe me if you'd seen the stuff I let go you'd have been a lot more upset. I think aside a few people 800s are destined to end up very rare cars indeed.

Re: 800 Owners Club
Sounds like you're on a bit of a downer? Specifically thinking about your cars, trying to look after multiple cars is hard work. Even worse with older stuff. Personally I would pick the most important one to you and concentrate on that. I've been there before, one good car will make you happier than...

Re: Limo For Sale
I had 2 R registered 827s a few years back.
There's a black limo on Facebook at the minute.
It does make me get slightly nostalgic for limo I owned. No use to me now though and other cars on my wish list above another. But never say never.

Production areas can be known as cells sometimes?
Re: Jeep talk
I seem to have escaped both so far.

Fair enough.
I'll be fine then as I speed everywhere.
