Re: Still around!
Workshop looks great, best of luck with the business. Thank you! Got to admit your Vitesse was a pretty big inspiration both back in my youth youth and today. Glad to see you're still tweaking and constnatly improving the car. Loving the attempts to stiffen the shell, I recall vividly just how flex...

Re: Thunderbird 2 & The Green Machine
Hah, yes the 5th gear only works in the Fens. I live in Cambridge and 95% of my driving at the time was fenland flatness. Made for easy 32mpg on gas at a true 70mph I'm glad you like the LPG setup, it's both a bit "special" and overengineered at the same time. Romano 240hp vap and a 74l tank (I thin...

Still around!
Evening all! Hope you're all keeping well! Been a very busy few years for me chopping and changing a few jobs before saying sod it and following my dreams. Now the owner/director at Four Paw Racing Ltd. In Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire. Still spanner wielding, rust repairing, engine tweaking and all so...

Re: Thunderbird 2 & The Green Machine
Hello there!
I'm one of the original owners of said Green Machine.
Glad to see she's still on the road and seeing lots of use!
Been feeling nostalgic for my old girl for some time!
If you ever think of selling her do give me a shout. I'd be very interested

Re: 1999 BRG 820 Si Fastback
I hate to say it but that battery is less than 2 years old! The receipt should be in the paperwork somewhere (Andrew Page IIRC) It's not the correct battery for the 800 according to the lookup - it's actually for a mk7 Ford Transit! Basically the biggest sodding battery that would fit in the hole. :...

Re: 1999 BRG 820 Si Fastback
Spark plugs - I'm a complete numpty.... The more I think about it those iridium plugs are 6 years and 40-50k miles old.... Of course they could do with changing even if they are supposedly 100k plugs! Magnecor leads should be fine. . Watch out with the antifreeze and make sure you use OAT orange/pin...

Re: Cream Leather
The holes are from the original plastic clips that rover used. They have a habit of breaking so those hooks are the Rover dealer supplied fix.
I used to hook them into the seat runner mounts as not to damage the carpet.
Glad you're having fun getting stuck in!

Check brake proportioning valve on the bulkhead in the "front that you have designated the front" (this will get confusing fast!) My first thought would be to replace it with something like this : https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/112057284065?chn=ps&adgroupid=47842945425&rlsatarget=pla-380312378771&abcId=11...

Re: Hi All, new member here
The engine is nice, especially on petrol. On LPG though it's not particularly smooth and seems to kangaroo quite easily at low revs, no problem at above 2000rpm though. It does sound great when the second cam starts working, you can hear the difference in exhaust note! On this note regarding the LP...

Re: Hi All, new member here
The front suspension on an 800 is its achilles heel as it is its brilliance. Being co-developed with Honda in the early 80's the Japanese wanted the long low bonnet and insisted upon double wishbones up front to achieve it. (or so the summary of the story goes) The downside is that the standard 800 ...

Re: Hi All, new member here
You're right about the rattly trim. I gave up and just turned the radio up a bit more ;-) The front springs are ~50mm lowering springs of unknown age/brand but with a 50mm spacer on the bottom of the spring seat to return the front to normal ride height. The rear springs are the Police/Heavy Duty sp...

Re: Alucard7002 - Mk2b 820Si Fastback - Pic Heavy!
Just to say, this 800 is now mine! It's a hoot, handles a lot better than a car of this size and luxury should! Probably not much happening with it until I finish a distance-learning degree course in January, but then I can tinker merrily away. Glad you're enjoying the old girl! I went through 3 se...
