The battery never stays connected when I leave it over night but the code still returns..
There's a lot more to do it , I might start a new thread when I'm done

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
Compression low on a few cylinders, but not enough to cause the misfire, so i swapped injectors 1,2 and 5 and it fired up smoothly

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
I can hear the spark jump out of the end of the lead whenever i pull a lead off a spark plug, so i know the spark is good. It's also the 827sli dizzy on there at the moment. Injectors will be my next step once i've done a compression test as a compression test is quicker than swapping injectors if i...

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
I've double checked the leads, but i pulled the dizzy off and transferred over one by one. Plus when pulling a plug it would effect the running, it doesn't, nothing happens. The Rovor runs fine with the crank sensor un plugged it just throws a code, so it should run without misfiring. I'll know more...

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
Not firing on 1, 2 and 5, not tried it today though. The oil level is at max and looks ok, (something i always check along with the cam-belt condition before attempting to start it :) ) I might add some atf to the oil but i did give it a nice "seamfoam" alternative which all helps :) It's not overly...

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
The replacement ECU behaves identically to the old one, no change regards to 9 flashes.
I've ordered a compression tester and new plugs so we'll go from there, all part of the fun!
Just need to find where i "safely" stored my spare crank sensor!!

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
Swapped that ECU in but it didn't change the outcome, the engine did eventually start though with the help of mr easy start, guess being sat for so long didn't help, not running on all 6 though. Jez, much appreciated for dropping off the Vitesse and relieving me of the Sterling, i was beginning to r...

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
I unplugged the ROVOR's crank sensor and it starts but flashes 4 times, i have changed over the whole dizzy so i know it's not that.

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
I have a spare crank angle sensor that works (SLI engine from the ROVOR), i've heard it can be changed without removing the belt but it might be easier not to push my luck and do it properly.
I should try the theory out on my ROVOR, infact brb.

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
Cheers Dave!
I have a spare ECU, so will swap it out.
The funny thing is, i pulled the plug for the crank sensor and after cranking it over i got 4 flashes, plugged it back in after cranking it again, it gives 9 flashes.

Re: MK1 827 Sterling G reg
Crikey Andy, that was a bit unexpected! :o  Hope you got a good price for it? Any pics of the new beast yet? Yeah, looked at it one day and the next it's on my driveway with the Sterling on the trailer for the return journey!! The Sterling had lacquer peel in a couple of places where the pre...
