Re: Number 58!

Exactly. I looked up the weights on the Rover V8 Vs Volvo redblock the other day, can't remember them now but the V8 was lighter for the same reason. The Volvo redblock and T-series both have a cast iron block which is where the weight is. :D Just looking online I found a site quoting specs ...

Re: 1990 Rover Sterling Manual HGF Ex Richard Moss £250.00

I really did want to get this back but have nowhere to stash it, unfortunately.

As a non-cat mk1 manual Sterling it is a very quick and very rare car.

Re: Manalishis Mk 1a 827 Vitesse (manual)

If I remember correctly, mk1s have a separate relay for each of the up and down functions. Swap them over to see if it moves down - then swap back to close it again

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux

https://i.postimg.cc/0jqjVF0M/20210613-121617.jpg In the mean time, I've swapped the pulley from the Land Rover tensioner on to the old tensioner. All good, nice and quiet tensioner. Thanks Rich! That's good to hear. It's something that we "Jeepers" do all the time. You can buy Jeep pulleys without...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux

Now....is the original tensioner knackered or is it a seized bearing in the pulley that is the problem (jamming and making the whole tensioner bounce)? If it's the latter, you should be able to swap the pulleys over AliBaba shows a picture of the tensioner's insides, too https://www.alibaba.com/prod...

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux

That must be the first ever site reference to Johnny and Fanny Craddock

It makes sense that the tensioner fits: The TDi is just a 5 cylinder L series diesel and the L series is just a diesel version of the T series.

Re: Mercedade's '97 Vitesse Lux

I took the part number from Rimmers and searched with google. Landrover are a good source of parts - the T series was used in the Discovery https://www.bestpartstore.co.uk/pqg10008-oen But according to the guys on MG-Rover.org, the LR Defender TDI one fits - under 20 quid for the whole tensioner and...

The garage didn't refit the rubber grommet/boot before making up the flare and union which was annoying, but I managed to get a rubber grommet in place once it was back home, so it does at least keep the road mess out.
More important than road muck, it stops the pipe chafing on the bodywork

The rear floor was soaking in the Coupe.
Funny but our Fastback (TGM) is dry, but haunted!
Water in the boot is often caused by poor seals on the rear lights. A little silicon grease when refitting (or even a smear of sealant) can help.

Re: Bjorn Again (another Saab convertible)

Saab. Nice cars when they work. :) To be honest, that is a very fair comment. It's been a long time since I updated this thread and quite a few repairs have been completed on the way. That replacement compressor failed, so had to be replaced by a "replacement replacement" and then one of the flexib...
