Re: Hello :)
Welcome aboard Nick!
There's a few Mk1 fastbacks around but some of them are right dogs in terms of bodywork. That said, they very often look the dogs danglies until you've had them a few months then turn out to be as rotten as a peach.
Check your prospective purchase very carefully! You might be better buying one that has some "honest patina" as the antique dealers call it and sorting whatever body problems yourself if your skills lie in that area or paying a reputable body shop to do it for you than buying one that looks like it has just come from the showroom.
If you wouldn't mind a saloon, Paul (mrpcpc) has a nice Mk1 827 ripe for light restoration. If memory serves it is an 827 SLi in Moonraker Blue.

Re: Hello :)
No, only just found the other thread Paul. The 820 SLi fastback looks a nice car, almost worth decapitating, renewing all 16 valves, valve guide seals, get the head skimmed (to be on the safe side) and renew the cam belt etc. Should be good for another 100k or so then, without too many worries.
Alterantively there#s that Shantung Gold (bronze) one that james125 or similar was asking about before he put it on the bay and then there's the gassed 827 saloon in Moonraker (?) Blue. Although i don't think i've ever seen the seller on here unless he uses another screen name, i do know he's an enthusiast and knows his stuff. He has also listed parts honestly in my experience, not that i've bought that many from him, but enough.
Out of the three cars though, i would probably go for the silver one on condition, the blue saloon as it's an 827 auto then the bronze because it's a saloon and auto. If it was purely a personal decision i.e. not suggesting to someone else which would probably be the best bet for them, it would be the 827 auto saloon every time. But i'm not buying anything, certainly not at the moment! Got enough to deal with on the beasts i currently own!!!
