Hi from Mark - 99V 825 Sterling and 91H MK1 820i f/b auto
Hi all,
Well I've been lurking here a while so thought I should say hi. All the cars I've ever owned since 1990 were Rovers with the last five being 800's since 1992 ish:
86B 216s - end of 1990, just passed test, got ripped off by a dealer (non franchise) at 17 years old! Didnt keep it long
88F 216Vitesse Diamond White - About march91 to early92. Liked it a lot but always wanted an 800
89F 820se saloon manual moonraker blue - early92 to late 92 - not a very nice example, got rid Autumn 92 when I went to Uni
90H 820i f/b manual nordic blue - Late 93 to late 94 my favourite ever car loved it to bits. The big bumper update really did it for me, although I really wanted an elusive MK1 820SLi f/b auto with grey interior. Reluctantly sold to my brother in law when I couldnt justify costs at uni anymore
94M 820SLi Auto f/b in Pewter - Jan97 to March04. Lovely car for me, developed common dash lift which was never fixed. Part ex'd it in Mar04 as I felt it was the last chance to upgrade in age and trim before 800's got too old find in dealer maintained condition.
99V 825 Sterling saloon BRG/granite (KV6, 97MY) - March04 to date. 21k on clock (now 69k) and dealership + one owner from new. Coming up to 5yrs with it, recently overhauled underneath and timing belt. MK2 prestige alloys swapped for refurbed late MK1 prestiges (from Rich Moss) which I always preferred. Been maintained with Rover specialist garage I found last year.
91H MK1 820i f/b auto in Nightfire/granite - Dec08 to date. 57k on clock, verified back to 2001, apart from that - who can say? But it feels and drives like it. No rattles or squeaks at all, less even than the 90H I owned in 93 (see above)! Had a bit of work done at my Rover specialists in St Albans, will put more detail on Your Cars. Original 14" steel wheels swapped for 15" MK1 sport alloys (refurbed) which I got a set of 5 for 20quid with good rubber. Really loving this one and will keep tip top as long as I can. Turns 18 this year but feels like it has a loooong time left in it!
So I now have two 800's - one of the last MK2's and one of the last MK1's. Both represent my last chance to own the cars of my dreams so I have to be serious about maintaining them properly. I dont think I can face having to choose a non 800 to drive!

It's definately COQ - stamped on the VIN plate. I dont think its looking its best particularly in daylight conditions until I get the time and weather to properly spend time with the T Cut and Polish. It seems to display its metallic qualities better under artificial light at the moment. I personally remember Nightfire being launched 1990/91 as I used to ogle them in the dealerships and pore over the brochures at the time.
Interesting to hear you are near St Albans, Neo. Do you know the place I'm talking about? If you'd like to know more I'd be happy to point you there.
