You're welcome Col - if they're as friendly and helpful as they are round my neck of the woods you should stand a good chance.
That said, i've mainly been after parts but although they could get them quicker than other places, they weren't quite as good on price but better than most main dealers!

Any ideas of possible suppliers or even the right name for these ????? Cheers in advance, Col.

Re: Rover 825 v6 Sterling 1998 R543 HJW
Is this what he's referring to Col?

They are the exhaust cam oil seals so are on the head, not the block although having seen a couple of KV6s, it's an understandable mistake to make.
It might also be wise to renew the thermostat while he's doing it, the inlet manifold has to come off (you'll need an inlet manifold gasket set as well) and the thermostat lives under it as far as i know. Either way, the inlet manifold has to come off to change the 'stat and the pipework has a habit of breaking so i would say it would be a wise move to renew it while everything else is in bits.
According to RAVE, the timing belt interval on the KV6 is 96k miles so you've got a bit of time to wait for the next one, 8 years or 96k miles.

Hopefully those are the right bits then - reading through the method on RAVE the old ones have to be removed for fitting a service tool to the end of the exhaust camshafts.
I can see a different way of doing things but your Jimmy is obviously doing the textbook method so i won't interfere!

Re: Rover 825 v6 Sterling 1998 R543 HJW
I don't know what method Jimmy is following Dave, but he won't start anything that he can't complete without the right parts. That's the main reason I return to him, plus he knows what he's doing Mechanically, something that I will attempt if its got 'novice' or one spanner. anything more technical I call for International Rescue. Cheers once again, any Rover 800 get together this year ?? I've got to make the most of being retired....

Not sure of what get togethers are happening to be honest. The BL/BMC Rally at Peterborough seems to have died a death, i believe there's another around Spetember time at Milton Keynes but not too sure.

There is a video that I put on you tube many years ago shows you how to replace both sets of belts
https://youtu.be/2fFx8SPiTSc
The show Dave mentioned at Milton Keynes was very good last year worth a visit.

Good video Tony but having the engine on a stand makes it look easy!neo wrote: ↑Tue May 14, 2019 6:40 amThere is a video that I put on you tube many years ago shows you how to replace both sets of belts

Have you got a link for the MK show this year or know if it's actually happening?
