Hi everybody on here!! I've been a Rover enthusiast since the age of 13 when my brother got his first P6BS. It was a white one with the black vinyl Webasto full length roof but the really special bit was that it had been to the Special Tuning centre at Abingdon (when we had a motor industry!!!). Allegedly it kicked out about 190bhp at the back wheels and the way it went, i don't doubt that!!
Anyway, i went on to own a selection of SD1s including 4 V8s and then i started on the newer stuff with an 820Si in moonraker blue. It was a D reg 4 door saloon and the previous owner had recently changed the camshafts................don't know what he put in but it went!! Sadly the front subframe turned itself into a sieve, courtesy of tinworm so the engine found it's way into a Montego VDP that i bought to get around in and it promptly blew its head gasket!! so i spent a weekend changing the engine, made up a mount for it and then went porsche scaring!!
A few cars later, including 2 jags, i bought a silver Mk1 Sterling which i ran for a few months but sadly sold because i thought the gearbox was on the way out. Turned out it was actually working properly and all i needed was a new thermostat!!
So i bought my current Sterling early last year. Thought it would take ages to find the one i wanted, but it appeared on ebay and was only a few miles away so one test drive later, cash changed hands and i've had it ever since!! As you may have guessed, i'm still learning about this one, but already have a fair bit of knowledge so hopefully i can give as much help as i get on here!!

Welcome to the club, what year is your current Sterling? Through your avatar looks like its a mk2, and do you have any photos of your old 800's? (Especially the mk1 Silver Sterling, will be interesting to see that one as there are still a few silver ones about, including one that appeared on ebay recently)

Thanks for the welcome guys!! I've got some photos somewhere, certainly of the 820 and i think there may be one or two of the Mk1 Sterling. From memory, the Sterlings reg was F956 HDG but i'm not sure on that. I know the 820 was D859 SGO and my current Sterling is L177 JUR, registered in 1994. Thinking back, it would have been 2002 when i had my Mk1 Sterling and sadly owned it for just 4 months roughly.
Have to say my current one is a lot better than the Mk1, why i'm not sure but i'm only the fourth owner and it has about 3/4 full service history. The mileage is pretty low as well at only 94k and it's general condition reflects this. I've just had the original windscreen replaced and renewed the original CV boots on it as well!! Only thing really missing from it is the rubbery thing in the boot that holds the jack, wheel brace etc, everything else (except the coolant tank) is as it should be. It now has a Volvo coolant tank on it as trying to find a solid Rover one was like trying to find rocking horse manure!!

Hi Dave, could you post up some pictures and info on how to install the volvo tank, as you are the first member that has done the conversion and it would be useful to see what modification is needed?

Hi Kyle,
as soon as i work out how to post pics i'll do that for you and anyone else that wants to do similar!! In the meantime when i get 5 mins i'll do a write up in the technical bit but that will be later today as i'm still going through this cooling fan problem!! I'm not normally beaten on car problems, especially electrics, but this one is really trying my patience!!

Tried it on the DVLA site, nothing found.
