Should have joined years ago ... 820 Turbo Coupe
Hello All,
I should have joined ages ago, got my silver 820 turbo couple as a company car over 10 years ago and loved it so much I bought it and looked after it the best I could.
As things have fallen off I have replaced with moderate go faster bit, stainless steel exhaust, K&N, boosted the turbo and fitted a "Fuel-Cat" (really does work) and Koni dampers. Still flies but getting parts is getting more difficult each year, my poor mechanic uses e-bay more that the trade now. RoverTune just off the M4/M25, top chap if anyone want's his number.
Regards,
MarkyD

Welcome to the site. You can get quite a few parts from several hoarders (sorry , members ) on here. Also, the wealth of knowledge is well worth the joining fee.
Seriously, much help has been received from the people on here, many top blokes and I don't think there is anything about the 800 you can't find out, just ask. Judging by where you are, you are in easy reach of several experts.
Once again, welcome.
Gordon.

Welcome! An 820 turbo coupe as a company car? Can't be bad! What's this "Fuel-Cat" thing and is it some sort of economy device?

I was lucky, when I was deemed worthy enough to have a company car all those years ago I could either have a standard rep mobile or rummage around in the cars that had been returned but still had time left of the lease, were a few Merc's etc but always liked the Coupe's so when I saw one in the pool with just 10K on the clock and a year old I bit their hand off ... boy was I crucified on the tax though!
http://www.fuelcat.co.uk/ ... I have no connection with or receive any benefit from Fuel-Cat before I proceed basically they are a catalyst which improves the burn efficiency of fuel and increases its knock resistance, first used it on a Yamaha V-Twin I had when I got carried away with raising the compression ratio it pinked a bit until I fitted it. On cars that have an knock sensor it acts a bit like putting Shell Optimax in your tank, i.e. the car senses the increased knock resistance and advances the ignition (I believe this to be correct .. sure I will be correct if not) either way just like adding higher octane fuel, there is a noticeable extra zip by using it.

I bet they did crucify you on the tax! Nice one though, i bagged myself an Astra SRi as a company car the same way many moons ago (bit of an upgrade from the standard issue Maestro 1.3L!) and if memory serves it would have cost me about £100/month on tax. As it was one of the few cars lease-owned (rather than lease-hired) by the company i got away with it thankfully!
Might look into getting one of those Fuel Cat things, always looking to squeeze a few extra mpg out of each gallon!
