16" Steel Wheels
Hi folks,
I'm after a set of 4 steel wheels please.
16" only not the 15" (or 14" in case anyone has any lurking in a corner!)
Not fussed on condition (as long as round and airtight)
Not fussed on presence of tyres - I'll be putting a set on.
I'm in Cambridge.
TheOldMan is in Pembrokeshire.
I can collect in and around the Cambridge area.
TheOldMan can collect in Pembrokeshire or within reasonable distance of the following route:
https://goo.gl/maps/mt2a7
Can anyone help please?
Thank you

Re: 16" Steel Wheels
At the risk of asking a stupid question, do they have to be steel wheels? You wouldn't be interested in alloys at minimal or even no cost?
Knowing a little of how your thoughts go, i am guessing you have something in mind for a set of steels that can't be done with alloys but if it's purely wheels then i have a set of 16" Prestiges that are getting lonely in the corner.

Re: 16" Steel Wheels
Aye
I'm not planning on cutting and banding them if that's your thought.
It's for the 827 for both when it's time comes and for that ultimate in dogmobile goodness!

Re: 16" Steel Wheels
I didn't for one minute think you were planning on banding them, that doesn't look right on FWD cars IMHO and i think many people share that opinion - all down to offsets etc so they look odd.
I was actually thinking you had plans to electrolytically derust them, then give them some strange plating treatment or paint job.
As far as 16" steelies go, i only have one and that is currently the spare in the SLi (despite it having 17" Vit Sport alloys ) so there's one towards your goal. Obviously i need to find a replacement spare before i can let it go though.
Out of interest, what wheels do you have on your 827 at the moment?

I agree RE: banding wheels - certain Japanese cars suit slightly banded steels. Occasionally 4x4 off road use stuff, otherwise no!scoobyh123 wrote:I was actually thinking you had plans to electrolytically derust them, then give them some strange plating treatment or paint job.

No plans for treating the steelies to anything - except maybe a quick wire brush and leave outside to "age" in the Pembrokeshire breeze.
Currently the 827 is wearing the 16" Roversports, which I have been after for a while. Plan is to put the tyres on the steelies and refurb the Roversports to put on the 820. I love the look of the Prestige wheels and cannot complain about their quality (lightest of all standard fit 800 wheels) but they are a PAIN to keep clean... I'm lazy

Dusan
I've got some 17" alloys here, with some very expensive tyres fitted.
Regards

Re: 16" Steel Wheels
A polite Bump as I'm after these still if folks can help?
I'm happy to pay courier costs of course or pick up if you're local (ish)
Also don't mind if each one comes from a different person!

Re: 16" Steel Wheels
Here's an alternative solution - deprive a Volvo S/V40 from about 98-02 vintage of the standard 16" steelies and use a set of spigot rings 67.1mm - 64.1mm to locate said rims on the 827 hubs. Should be umpteen Volovs with suitable 4-stud wheels in various scrapyards round the area
"Coupe at sunset" wearing Volvo S40 BBS "Crater" alloys, just to show they do fit!

Re: 16" Steel Wheels
Bump here folks,
Turns out not many cars came with 16" steel wheels. At least not proper wheels - many "space savers" available on EvilBay.
I'm after 3x of them, I have one!
Can collect within East Anglia and Birmingham areas. Otherwise I'll pay postage.
Thanks all!

Re: 16" Steel Wheels
I'd forgotten about this - i'll have a look for you as a car i recently acquired for spares has one or two steelies with it - not sure on size though! The remaining alloys are 15s so the steelies probably are as well.
