Hello all,

I am new to this forum, but I have been on the look out for a Rover 827 (ideally STERLING) Auto for a while now.

If anyone has one they are wanting to sell, or thinking of selling, or knows anyone, who is not on this forum who may be, please let me know Thank you all

Joking aside Richard, welcome aboard! Are you looking for a Mk1 or early (up to 96) Mk2 827? Saloon or Fastback? Colour preference? Turn-key car or one you'd be prepared to work on?

That looks like an honest little thing. Not show stopping, but a very fair price for the chance to own a rare car you'll need to pay £1000s for in not many years time.

probably easier to buy an accord v6 auto coupe, much better built car, more toys less woes, etc etc

but after all that, you still won't have the prestige afforded to you by the 827, but you will have issues, and by the time you've solved them, you'll be selling the big issues.

so find a nice one

Which Accord V6 coupé do you mean Matt? Some of them can have serious gearbox faults if the wrong fluid (DW-1) is used. It is NOT backwards compatible with Z-1 so DW-1 should NEVER be used in the 827 box either as it causes torque converter failure amongst other nasty things. I nearly bought one about 18 months back for a bit of fun and found all this out as a result.
Luckily there are several Z-1 compatible ATFs around at a sensible price (compared to Hondas price for Z-1, not that they sell it anymore!) so there's no excuse for putting the wrong fluid in!

What colour exactly is that car.... seller says "purple/grey", DVLA says Purple, looks Grey in pics...

Could this be a rare example of Amethyst? Don't think I ever saw one for real, only the sample panel in the brochure...

Hmmm, the newest one that looks like it won't hit our shores. I thought you meant this one that we did get and i nearly bought about a year-18months back, just for fun!



Then again, most are getting to the same sort of point most 800s are now in need of a fair bit of TLC just to bring them up to scratch although there are some well looked after examples about. That said, many of the routine parts are either £OUCHH!! or simply unobtainable. Some of the dashboard/climate control illumination bulbs aren't even 12V for a start and only (apparently) available from Honda dealers and are at least a fiver each.

That one is an S reg Matt, originally registered in the Bournemouth area. Can you remember the complete reg?

mine was grey dave, also bournemouth is an hour away, i know its in dorsetshire, but I'm not that local you know.

I thought you meant yours was also purple. That one now lives somewhere near Birmingham but was sold by a guy near Reading to someone in Nnorthampton who then sold it to someone in Burton on Trent (Branston Pickle Land) who then sold it to the current owner.

So it's been around a bit! Also the Bournemouth VRO covers a mutitude of sins, including Lyndhurst which is nearer Southampton than Bournemouth but for some odd reason involving post codes i believe, Lyndhurst came under the Bournemouth VRO, certainly in 1989 when the Ballade (similar to Rover 213) i owned yonks ago was first registered.
I know at one time Bournemouth covered all of Darzet and about half of Zummerzet with the other half being covered by Exeter. Not sure why but who knows why the DVLA do anything???

Just to see if there was any comparison, the reg on that purple one was S251 LRV - was yours anywhere near?

no dave, mine was a short plate as well, s** *** i can't remember what it was, i had it for 2 mins and sold it to a little nigerian student at cardiff university a long time back.

I have an 827, 1990 Metalic racing green, fastback, quite good condition, needs MOT at last test passed ok. Need a fast turnaround cos of housemove or its the graveyard.
