Front fogs
Does anyone have front fog lamps for my Mk2 that they willing to part with for a suitable financial remuneration or, know where I can source suitable replacement?

Re: Front fogs
That's for one ? Is it just the lamps you need and not the switch assembly too ?

Re: Front fogs
I just need the lamps as mine have disintegrated around the electrical fitting on the back having never been touched since they were factory fitted by the look of it.
I've seen what is obviously the off (drivers) side which has a bracket attached but not a nearside. Are they different ie have different focus?

Re: Front fogs
Both lamps are the same Rob, they don't have differet focus or extra brackets depending on side. There are no left hand drive or right hand drive versions either, one lamp fits all!
The lamps linked to above for the Renault are exactly the same as Rover fitted originally - if you want to look for something slightly different, go on the mister-auto site and search for Renault 5 GT Turbo, circa 1986/88 front fogs and you shouuld find the yellow lens version of what's fitted as OE to the 800.
The only way of getting them slightly cheaper unless you find some NOS lamps on fleabay would be to search for secondhand Renault front fogs, models being the 21 and 5 from about 86-88. The trouble is, they are mounted the same way as the Rover lamps, behind the bumper with no protection from road salt etc that causes the reflectors to rot.
The other alternative is get 2 lengths of 20mm box section, each 7" long. Drill 3 holes, one in the centre, the other two 3" from the centre all 5.5mm diameter.
Now cut the ends at 45 degrees to give you access from the front to mount the box section in place of the OE lamps, using M5 x 20 screws. The centre hole needs to be drilled to take a central mounting bolt from the body of a set of these :

If memory serves correctly, i used an M10 bolt with a mushroom head and Allen key drive as they are flatter than hex head bolts so won't short the bulb out. That means the central hole needs to be 10mm in the box section. I also used M10 penny washers to help spread the load on the body of the lamp. If you look at the back of the lamp body, there is a pre-formed "weakness" to allow you to knock out a 10mm hole.
Use the original wiring for the OE fogs and connect it to the Microline bulb. Bolt it all up and check they work - job done!

Re: Front fogs
I bought two sets when they were £15. One set I fitted to Stella (including the switch panel). The wiring was already behind the bumper and the panel was simple plug'n'play. I removed the lamps from the car before she was taken by the DVLA for no tax but the switch panel I left. If I'd had more time, I'd have taken more bits off such as the fuel filler pipe etc. The lamps I'm going to fit onto the turbo and the other set onto the white car with the TWR bumpers (although I may get a pair of Hella rectangular fog lights for that one).
