Subframe/cross member bolts
Anyone got a couple (or just one!) of the stumpy but chunky bolts that connect the front-to-back beam under the engine and gearbox to the front subframe?
I've got one that's a proper mess and will probably get ruined in the process of extracting it tomorrow - just seeing if anyone had any in their pot of nuts and bolts

They're dirt cheap from Rimmers but Christ, the P+P

Re: Subframe/cross member bolts
I think so, i'll try and find some tomorrow if i have. Do you know the thread size? I know the head is 13mm but it's a flange bolt so normally the thread size is the next size up which would make it M10 - seem to recall the thread was M8 when i removed some of mine some time back.

Use it as an excuse to order more bits and make the postage more palatable?

Thread and diameter wise, they're the same as the exhaust studs, if that helps!

Re: Subframe/cross member bolts
I read that and thought "Yeah, that's great, they're M10 x 1.25, easy enough to make sure i get the right ones!"mercedade wrote: ↑Thu Oct 24, 2019 1:47 pmDave, that's be fantastic, thanks.scoobyh123 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 22, 2019 10:41 pmI think so, i'll try and find some tomorrow if i have. Then i remembered yours is a 2.0 so has different sized exhaust studs!
Too wet for me to even think about taking one out of mine to double-check and haven't found the right looking bolts yet in the tubs i've investigated so far.
I'll keep looking as and when weather allows!

Re: Subframe/cross member bolts
Cheers Dave.
I'll be allowed to drive in a few weeks (foot operation) so if no joy, I can drop in a hardware shop and see if they've got something that'd do the trick.

Re: Subframe/cross member bolts
I take it you're non-weight bearing and trying to hobble around on crutches then Adrian?
If so, i have something i was about to list on ebay that would be very helpful for you. If you're interested, drop me a PM and i'll explain.
Meanwhile stop hopping around on one leg, you're making it rain!

Re: Subframe/cross member bolts
Cheers Dave - I was, for the first three weeks. Then, for the last three weeks I've been able to walk in my special sandal, hence all the sudden progress on the Rover.
Now out of the sandal and into normal shoes - another couple of months and I'll stop limping so much.

Re: Subframe/cross member bolts
Oh, and cross member - in the end, I was able to get to the hardware shop and picked up an M10 set screw. It does the job, so another one crossed off the list.

Re: Subframe/cross member bolts
Glad you're back on your feet (literally!) Adrian! Take it easy though and don't do too much, all too easy to cause permanent damage without realising it!
Good news you've got some bolts too, still haven't found the ones i thought i had, only one tub left to investigate and that's bured at the back of the shed!
