WANTED: Coolant Expansion Tank. <<RESOLVED>>

A big ask I know, but I'm on the hunt for one, as mine decided to accquire a small split in the top section whilst away on holiday last week. I managed to bodge a temporary repair to get me home, but the tank WILL need replacing.

I would ideally prefer a pukka 800 tank, but as I've heard one from a Volvo 740 (?) will fit with minor mods, I would be willing to try this alternative.

Advice & help, anyone please??

If you want a brand new genuine rover part rimmer brothers were having some in on the 25th, only draw back is the price. Â£75 inc vat and delivery.
well you did say you wanted a pukka tank

after my troubles last week I would not fit anything to the cooling system other than genuine. nearly cooked my engine all because I fitted a new expansion tank cap. bought it new on ebay and was assured it was the correct item for my car. the coupe started to boil over at 80 on the M50 near Tewksbury. when we got the car home and refitted the old original rover cap, no overheating

and the d-ck head that sold me the part tried to convince me his cap is fine and the fault lies with my old cap or head gasket fault

Phil Goodsall recently got one from a place he mentions in post 3 for Â£60 with some antifreeze - which means the tank must come in at circa Â£50.

Malcolm, it was because there was a line return in between the end of the link and the [url]. It's a peculiarity of the board software.

The search is over.

I collected a 2nd hand one today, courtesy of Greengingers (Steve), and while I was there, I purchased a post '96 Grille from him, to replace my rusty metal one, I paid Â£35 for each item, which was quite reasonable, I thought.

While I was there, I he showed me his complete parts "department", which consists of two large sheds at the bottom of his garden, and a lock up just around the corner from his home. He has literally thousands of parts for the MK2, I was like a kid in a sweetshop!!!!

For those who have been to his place before, you will know what I'm talking about, but for those who haven't, or have never used his services before, then please do!! I highly recommend Steve to anybody who runs an 800, his communication is first rate, and prices fair.

A tank was sold on evilbay for Â£54 the other week!!!

Ive had a few bits off Steve over the last few years and hes always been very helpful.
