1990 820 si 16v for sale

Hi All
I am selling the Rover I have just acquired. As I’ve said on the introduce yourself board, the engine has given up the ghost. The guy who gave it to me has told me to get rid of it. So here it is for sale.
It’s got 11 months MOT. It will need an engine swap I’ve got two spare engines one of which has only done about 100k, lots of new gaskets including a head gasket and a brand new battery.
I am asking £250 for it. (£100 for the guy who gave it to me, £50 for the battery, £50 for the MOT and £50 to cover my insurance cancelation fee) for someone who knows what about the 820 it will be a cheap fix.
I won’t be putting it on EBay or breaking it, if none one wants it, it will be going to the scrap man. And that would be a crying shame.

If you look in the itnroduce yourself board there are a couple of pics. The body is ok on the hole. it will need a bit of paint work the guy who had it before me used a spray can on the top of the passenger wing and on the c post. Not to cover rust i think the laqure failed

Here it is. It's had 3 former keepers the last one for 20 years. If you think £250 is too much make me an offer it needs saving.The car is in Warrington Cheshire just off the M6/M62

Whatever you do, don't scrap that -it's too rare and too nice to be cubed. If distance wasn't an issue (3,500 miles of it) I'd have that off you and bung in a new engine.

Would it be a really massive task to pop a 2.7L unit and auto box into it?

well, i may have a 2.7 engine and auto box to go in it soon, so if someone saves it, then there is the engine and box for it, i can't save it, i already have 2 and one on the way.

A T-series engine will fit, using the M series flywheel and engine management system

There must be some one out there willing to save it, I'd do it myself if I knew how to swap engines. All it needs is know how, all the parts come with the car barring a new cam belt oil and filters. If it means just getting scrap value then so be it. I got the car for free and i'm not trying to make money on it. If there is an expert near Warrington who is willing to work for tea and biscuits I'll save it.

What seems to be the problem with the engine ?

It was blowing oil into the inlet manifold. I did a pressure drop test on the cylinders and the result was bad,the rings are buggered. I've taken the head off to check out the piston and there seem to a lot of play, so I think it needs a re bore. I have 2 spare engines to choose from and most of the gaskets to rebuilt the best one. It is too big of a job for a 820 novice to take on

Well an elderly friend of mine is desperate for a rear drivers side seatbelt catch stalk, if you can't / won't remove it can you pm me which breakers yard it's going to and I'll ring them.

Real shame it's going that way.

Surely someone can save this car? It's too far from me and i don't have the space although if someone took it on and wanted to convert it to 827 spec i have a 2.7 engine, box, ECUs etc, in fact a whole car so the loom etc could be transferred to make life easier.
