Mk1 827Si For Sale

Hi guys,

Just testing the water at the moment but I'm looking to sell on my 827Si.

It needs:

New timing belt (I have the belt and might actually do it before I sell)
New rear quater glass as trim is missing (I have the replacement and again might replace this before I sell)
Scratch repairs to the NSR wing and front and rear bumpers. I might do this myself if it's not sold before the better weather gets round.

The car has had a replacement dashboard and door cards and will be sold with steel wheels / trims as I have already commited to selling the Roversports seperately (they were not original fitments anyway).

Car has done approx 40,000 miles and is very reliable. I used it for a year to travel to and from work (50 miles round trip) with no issues other than a failed window-wiper linkage that has since been replaced.

Fuel filler pipe seems pretty good and no other issues of note other than small trivial things.

I'm surprised as well actually. I love my MK1.

I've run the Rover for a year as a daily driver with next to no trouble but it's come time to do some essential maintenance. I have tried doing jobs over weekends before but I always end up biting off more than I can chew and having to rush to get the car back on the road for work on Monday. Hence, I decided to get another motor to use this summer so I could lay the 827 up for the maintenance it needs (timing belt, coolant change, fitting of parts I have ammassed over the last year). I first looked at getting a Saab 9-5 with a view to selling it on when the Rover was ready for re-commissioning again but ended up impulse buying a Jag X-Type.

Trouble is, I really like the Jag and it has intregued me to see what the rest of the Jag range is like. I've always been keen on the XJ series and have been speaking to a few people including our own 47P2 about his XJ8. The local specialist has an older 1996 XJ6 for sale for £1500 which has also interested me.

The current plan is to try and get a hold of a decent XJ and either sell the Rover and the X-Type or just the Rover (space constraints mainly, I would keep all the cars if I had storage for them). If nobody is interested in the Rover then its no great loss. I will fit the parts it needs and re-commission it as per the original plan. It's way way way too good to scrap and if nobody else wants it I'll have no option but to keep it.

My trouble is I want all the cars that I like. This includes the following:

Rover 820 / 827 Mk1
Rover 820 Mk2 (early facelift)
Land Rover 90
Jaguar XJ
Bentley Turbo R
Rolls-Royce Silver Shaddow 2

However, as I only have a drive for 2 cars and no garage I can only really have one at a time, 2 at a push.

Hi mate, i'm keeping an eye on this as I will be on the market for an 827 very soon has it got any tax or test?

A couple of months of test left although, with no advisories at last test, I'm sure it wouldn't take much to get another years ticket on it.

No tax I'm afraid - SORN'd when I got the Jag with the intension of working on it over the summer and re-taxing it again towards the tail end of the year.

I'm not in any rush to sell at the moment and it's not looking like anyone else is biting so it may well still be about when the time comes. Chances are I'll have done all the required work to it by then too!

well, it's potentially looking good! my Sterlings off to a loving new home and i'm left with an 827 shaped gap in my fleet

Price lowered to £500 for the time being (i'll be looking for nearer the original asking price if I put it on eBay - worth every penny. Well, in my opinion anyway!!)

I'd love too I really would but as of yet I'm still lumbered with both my Rovers, they're just not selling
