Rover 800 late - Lowering Springs for Sale

Post by Dickie524 » Mon Jan 18, 2016 5:38 pm

Hi all, as above - I bought a set of lowering springs for my car, which I fitted and used for a few months, before I decided that despite its more 'ingainly' appearence, I would switch back to standard height for the comfort factor.

These were ~£160 new - offered for sale for £95 (delivered) within the UK,have only been fitted for circa 6 months.

They drop the front of the car by more than the rear to bring it level overall as they have the 'nose high' stance.

Drop us a PM!

Hi Rich,

good to see you still about - how much of a drop on each end of the car do they give?
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Dave - yep, still here, though recent house move (after 13 years!) has meant an upheaval of epic proportions. And it has tirned up some forgotten gems too, such as these springs, and an A-series cylinder head. And no fewer than 5x Fiat 126 cylinder heads!!

According to the bumf, they drop the front of the car by 38mm, and the rear by about 15, I think, thereby resulting in a level car. It certainly looked relatively low, - particularly fron wheel-arch gap - but I'm struggling to find any photos from the 'low' period!

House moves do that to you Rich - it's part of their job description!  I've been here 3 years and still finding stuff i forgot i had!

The A-series head would be good for a Minor fan (or maybe an 1100/1300 fan) but the Fiat 126 cylinder heads? Five of them??? Not sure you'll shift them even on a Fiat 126 forum if such a thing exists?

Not sure about the springs for myself but i know someone who might be interested. I'll let you know if they are.
Cheers,
Dave

The 800 is level on normal springs, it's just the larger gap in the front wheel arch which gives the impression of nose-up. These springs will supposedly even the gap so each wheel fills the arch in the same way, it will thusly make the car nose-down (which isn't a bad thing in most cases).

True enough.

Anyhoo, I liked the look, just wasn't totally sold on the ride, but I'm sure if someone is after a sportier setup they'll be right up their strasse.

As for the 126 engines, what about connecting them up is series to make a 10-cylinder aircooled 5x652cc engine, that'd sound like a busy day in Turin... :-)
