My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
HI All,
thought i'd let you know that after a lot of heart wrenching and various factors influencing my decision, i'm having to downsize my fleet. For various reasons, the one that drew the short straw is my Coupé :

That's the ebay listing, i'm open to offers from members on here.

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
Sorry to read your selling the Coupe. You've spent alot of time with this car and I'm sure it can't be an easy thing to have to do but if needs must.
But it's nice to see how you've priced your coupe (buy it now price) to reflect the rareness and appreciating values of the 800 in general.
Some might think it's expensive but I would do just the same as you have if I were in your shoes.
Best of luck with the sale too!

Thanks Charles! Amazingly it's already had 191 views and has 8 watchers in about as many hours!
The reserve price is above what someone would get under scrappage as well so hopefully that means nobody will buy it for that purpose.

It's far too good to scrap - anybody out of their right mind would be daft!scoobyh123 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 7:01 pmThanks Charles! Amazingly it's already had 191 views and has 8 watchers in about as many hours!

And theres little profit to be made from 800 parts when I've read stories of newish Vauxhall Corsas being nicked for headlamps/wings/door mirrors.
Interestingly Mike Brewer has started a petition calling for classic cars not to be scapped under any circumstances. Though I have no idea from which year he proposes are classics.

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
Definitely way too good to scrap - even if it had a reasonably major accident it's good enough to warrant rebuilding.
I've got quite a lot of 800 bits (some 827-specific) i've been trying to sell for a while now Charles, as you say there's not much to be made from them these days.
Depends how you define a classic - some could be comparatively young, others would need to be a lot older before considered classic. It's a question often asked on the Volvo forum. My 760 GLE would generally be considered as a classic because it's 30 years old (or will be come 1st August) but one school of thought said it was a classic 1-15 years ago because it's the rare V6, 170bhp version and other schools of thought say that because it has a longer life expectancy because it's a Volvo, it isn't a classic yet and won't be for another 10 years or so.

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
If thats the case arguing a car is defined as 'classic' being 15 or however many years old, one could confidently say our 800's (more so with coupes) are classics. The coupe is probably more rare in the UK than it is in Italy and some parts of Europe. An 827 or 825 manual coupe are rarer still.scoobyh123 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 7:25 pmDefinitely way too good to scrap - even if it had a reasonably major accident it's good enough to warrant rebuilding.

Just depends but I think with classics in general there needs to be a collective concenus as to what defines classic status and not just age.

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
According to https://www.howmanyleft.co.uk/vehicle/rover_827_coupe
there are 12 SORN and 5 taxed 827 Coupés left - that's the manual ones. I know of two of them, yours and Phil B's (nuts4my827) - for some reason putting in "rover 825 coupe" brings no results and same for the 820 and 800 variations. It doesn't seem to list the Coupé as a separate model after 1996 but there are less than 200 825 Sterlings (manual and auto) left.
I don't think people have realised yet just how rare the 800 has become in general - watch the prices shoot up when they do!

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
Sadly didn't sell first time round, i've relisted with a lower reserve and BIN and the listing will go live at 715pm today.
Hopefully then i'll get the "just home from work" bidders and the lower BIN & reserve might encourage more bids.

Link for when it goes live later!

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
I see there are now 5 bids Dave, currently over the £400 mark. The first nightfire red coupe I had I sold for £450 back in 2011. But that car was a real rotten pair (all over too) sadly and that's why I sold it. Was just well passed it. I thrown in a stainless exhaust with it free when it sold to a guy not much older than myself who put it up for sale just weeks later. What happened after that could be anybody's guess but I think that manual 2.7 hit the dust.scoobyh123 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 12, 2018 1:15 pmSadly didn't sell first time round, i've relisted with a lower reserve and BIN and the listing will go live at 715pm today.

I'm just glad I found another that has been in much better shape to work on!
Anyway; good luck this time round Dave! Just a case of finding the right buyer at the right time, which there will be somewhere!

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
This auction went live at 715 on tuesday Charles and by about 730 had the first bid on it, a short while later the other 4 came in but it was still the first bidder that was the high bidder.
I'm hoping the evening start/finish time finds the bidder just home from work and trawling the bay - fingers crossed!
Earlier this evening it had 178 views and 11 watchers, now on 14 watchers but the view count is missing, seems ebay are having trouble with the view counter at the moment.
Last auction ended with something like 1100 views about 45 watchers, see what happens this time!

Dave, you might want to think about altering the title, an eBay search doesn't find your car easily.

Putting a search in for Rover 800 or Rover 827 or Rovet coupe didn't find it, that's all Dave.

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
Did you search in "Cars" or "Classic Cars" Simon? If it was in "Cars" it probably wouldn't because it's listed in the "Classic Cars" section. Perhaps a search in "Cars, Motorcycles and Vehicles" will bring it up?

It worked for me, please give it a go, just in case!

Re: My 827 Coupé for sale sadly
Time for an update here. As of about 3pm this afternoon it was provisionally sold, pending the payment which was made about 8pm this evening.
In all honesty i didn't get what i'd hoped for but an amount close enough to what it would get as a "Scrappage car" to make it unviable to use it as that and it's gone to an enthusiast in Northern Ireland.
I'm glad it's going to a good home and have mentioned the forum a few times so hopefully we may gain a new member!
