How much of the interior is missing, Chris? Just seats?

Not sure I have any, I'll look into that.

As Mike says it's all there Brad. However I have to confess I broke the centre console test fitting the new stereo I was going to fit in it.

I'll give it a few more days on here then I'll ebay it.

Well, had a good jaunt down to Nottingham yesterday to see Chris and to pick up the 827.

I've got to say, it's much better than my current MK2 820Si! Night and day! The drive is much tighter and the extra power is great! Needing a few things sorting out to make it perfect but, considering it's age, it was well worth the money!

Thanks again for everything Chris!

List of tasks to sort out:
General check on current condition
Balance tyres to resolve high-speed vibration
Fit stereo head unit
Fit new top suspension arms
Fit new back exhaust box
Replace drivers side door lock mechanism
Free off passenger side lock mechanism
Replace dashboard as current one is blistered
Refurbish alloys
Replace timing belt and aux drive belt for piece of mind
Basic service (oil, filter, air filter, plugs etc)
Strip and service front and rear brakes
Steam clean underside and engine bay - Waxoil underside
Rub down and respray areas of damaged paint and fully respray bumpers (front and rear)
Good clean inside and out and T-Cut / polish

Looking forward to it all ready!!

Must have been late/early when you got back? :lol:

Sorry about the wheel balancing, had no clue on that. I know I kept saying it but the car hadn't been driven.

I don't think you should end up with any other surprises. Pretty sure I covered everything else and the spares will sort those.

Just needs some TLC.

Yeah, we didnt get in till around 2am after stopping a few times and getting some food. Back up at 5am for work. Well worth it in my opinion though!

Dont worry about the balancing mate - you werent to know. It's all part of the fun!

Got a couple of questions for you though - Do the Hondamatic boxes always bump so apruptly into drive and reverse? Also, when you start up from cold, the engine revs up to around 1500 RPM before settling back to tick over when it heats up. Is this normal? Maybe I'm just looking for excuses to do some tinkering...........

Blimey that's dedication.

They can do that yes, seems to be more a MK1 thing in my experience. It may need the cable adjusting though. Does the kickdown seem to be working properly?

The idle is perfectly normal, no issue there.

It does seem to be a trait of the Hondamatic box that there's a hefty thump as a gear is selected, obviously made "worse" by the fact that the idle is much higher when cold. Not only does my 2.7 auto do the same, but the other Hondamatics i've had (2.2 Accord coupe and Rover 416) have done the same.
Takes a bit of getting used to if you're more used to the "cushioned" engagement of the ZF boxes.

Mine does the same on the idling speed too so i wouldn't worry!

I know Chris has already reassured you and for the most part i've only repeated what he said but i know what it's like when you buy a car and it behaves differently to what you are used to - you kind of expect the previous owner to say "yeah, that's fine" whether it is or not. Just adding my two penn'orth by way of confirmation that Chris is spot on with what he said.

Cheers Chris / Dave, I had noticed a distinct difference from the ZF box and other auto boxes I've had other motors.

The reason I ask about the idle speed thing is that my 820 has a wee bit of an irratic idle problem now again and I was thinking when I started up this morning "really? not another one!) :D
