Forgot about this up in the attic til the other day. i still have the quick release steering wheel from my Mk1 vitesse. Its a very nice 3 spoke job, wood and leather. Comes with a snap off boss and cover, will fit Mk2. I havent put on my coupe as she has the airbag ( and I dont mean the wife when she comes in the car

)

Compared to most aftermarket steering wheels you see, that's far from visually offensive. Bit too much wood mind...!

Any of you guys ever seen a half wood/half leather steering wheel in exactly the same setup as the original with airbag and all? Must have been optional, but I could never find anything about that. Seen it once, but the car was scrapped before I could get my hands on.

Never available on any 800's as an option or dealer accessory. Although it was available on the 75. And I have a nice one on my Lexus.

The wood/leather wheel from the Jag XJ40/X300 looks like it would fit an 800. It looks very like an 800 item.

If you want a wood and leather after market steering wheel with an airbag they are available. There are a few companies making them now, momo have some nice styles. But they aint cheap.
I forgot to mention this fits on the 200 aswell but the horn connections need adapting.

Guys, I have taken that car for a testdrive and it was definitely the exact same steering wheel as in the other 800's. Not just a lookalike. Only in wood and leather.

I've seen the same thing in some pics of Japanese 800's, so I'm pretty sure they must exist, but perhaps only for the export market.

Maybe it was to ram home the sheer Englishness of the cars? What better way to say 'English car' than as much wood and leather as possible?
