Set of grey leathers would make a huge difference...

I liked the cream interior. I dumped/sold (can't remember which) the blue carpets and fitted the dark grey, It's a lovely car.

I spoke to the owner yesterday and it's now priced at £1000.
No longer an 800 owner!

Nah, the distance aint much..

I wouldn`t pay over a grand for any 800 series though, even MINT
about 500-700 for a `good` one
300 max for a sound runner with no ticket(these are the ones i love the best)

Wrong Attitude Deano.

We should be pushing for as high a price as possiblew for these cars. Particularly the rarer ones and better ones. Only trhen will we see them become classics, and spares hopefully increase and be remade.

I consider my vitty coupé to be worth at least £1K, and the 2.7 Manual Coupé to be worth at least £2k when its back on the road.

Consistently pushing prices down will only have a detrimental affect on the longevity of thesem vehicles as owners who browse this and other forums will consider their cars to be worth nothing but scrap if even simple things go wrong with them.

I kind of agree with Phil.

I'll add a note to this just to say that I don't think they'll ever be worth quite as much as a P5 or an SD1 despite being superior in almost all areas (and less rust prone) albeit with less perceived character and not a true Rover. I often wondered if they would have sold better as "Morris Oxfords".

Soz, but the days of buying Rover 800s on the very cheap are pretty much finished now. Yeah, you could probably get lucjy and pick up one or two for for £345 or summat, but more often than not, they will need a lot of work and spending on. I got my KV6 for free but still had to shell out on it in order to get it in an at least fairly useable condition.

These cars are getting rarer and people are beggining to realise what they have got and what they are worth. Not too long back you could easily pick up a good conditioned Mk1 Rover Sterling for around £300/400, now the same one offered today in the same condition could attract bid up to and probably over £1k.

Sooner rather than later, even fair conditioned poverty-spec Mk2s are start commanding prices £1k.

VERDICT: Get with the times man.

Yo. Because its only now that mk2s are starting to become recognised, but there are still people out there, like you, who think they should never cost more than £200 and be in showroom condition.

Those cars you splashed up will sell, it'll take time but they will sell. You have to remember that not every enthusiast is on ebay or even on the internet, if they were, those cars will have sold a long time ago.

Remember the Mk2 Escort? Or the Golf, or those crappy hippy VW Vans? They went through a long period of not being worth the metal they were sat in, yet somehow, prices suddenly shot up. Some cars, like the Rover 800s, Jaguar XJ6s and so on will take time to go up in price, Rover 800s are starting to.

I'd provide a link if I could be bothered but there have been several examples of Rover 800s selling 2/3k, one example being a Champagne Gokd 827 Sterling fastback that sold at an auction for about 3k.

VERDICT: Chill out man and get with the times....

EVERYTHING becomes collectable. Beer mats, jam jars, fluff from pockets, old maps, typewriters...I collect lawnmowers and my friend collects Hoover brand upright vacuum cleaners from the 1960s. He has over 30. Every item and object is collected by someone somewhere. Not everything, though, is collected by EVERYONE.
