White gold 827 Sterling (K770 KWK) - will they ever sell it?
I've lost count of the number of times this while gold Sterling has been on ebay. They've reduced (and even increased!) the price a few times.

It's expensive when you compare what else is available for a lot less money:

and a 32000 mile V reg 825SLi with recent cambelt service, taxed and MoT'd went for £500 yesterday.

Yeah. Maybe they should price it at 75p. But that'll still be too much for someone here.
I might make a cheeky offer of a 'monkey' (£500 to non-Londoners) just for a laugh.

Looking at other larger cars such as slightly newer (2002/3) Omegas with 3.2 litre engines, sat nav etc going for well under £1000 now and 2001/2/3/4 Peugeot 607s at £600-1000 together with cars such as the Rover 75/MG ZT, Cadillac STS, Audi A8, Lexus LS400, Saab 9-5, some rather nice Jags and even the highly regarded Skoda Superb all battling in the marketplace at less than four figures, Joe Public will steer clear of the 800 as it's regarded as old hat. Which it is. The technology dates back about 30 years and all the cars I have listed are perceived (and actually are) much newer in terms of design and choice of material etc. This means cars like the 800, fine as it still is, will remain a novelty for some, an antiquity for others and a cheap old heap of a car to most. The marketplace will therefore not sustain or entertain higher prices for the 800 except amongst a few (and I mean literally no more than half a dozen enthusiasts throughout the whole world) for whom the 800 is still a thing of desire and "one for their collection".

They are still more fun than the crappy mini pickup I dumped in 1982 for £535.00 with 54,000 on the clock, now selling on ebay for £12,000

It's an eloquent statement , well presented by a clearly intelligent individual with a cheeky turn of phrase, but it remains an opinion, as soon as the gallant white knights on poorly funded horseback realise all cannot be saved and old dogs need to die graciously will the ceam (and value) rise to the top of the stinking milk bottle - but it IS happening steadily.Very Tall Brad wrote: This means cars like the 800, fine as it still is, will remain a novelty for some, an antiquity for others and a cheap old heap of a car to most. Re: White gold 827 Sterling (K770 KWK) - will they ever sell
Its the old argument, is the 800 a classic, is it a banger or somewhere in between. Only the market and demand will decide.
What I will say is Adrian (AJF Engineering) is a business, I first met him 20 years ago when I was into Triumphs and he'd just started out, his yard then was smaller but full of Spitfires and Heralds ect. Respect to him for sticking with the old firm and making a living at it. His workmanship used to be good and I'm sure if any thing went wrong with car he would answer the phone and try to sort it. Although I haven't seen him in many years, thats what he was like back then.Peace of mind has to be worth a few quid, this car is worth whatever someone is willing to pay in these "difficult" times.
Although my son has commented several times that 800's seem to be advertised at decent money (more than his 2004 MG ZT+ Turbo, cost £1300) compared to a few years ago. I do remind him however that may not be what they sell for.

Re: White gold 827 Sterling (K770 KWK) - will they ever sell
Well said Dave. A car is worth whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it. Yeah, its been advertised for a while, but bear in mind there have been a frw similar cars that have sold for higher prices than most if us here would pay. Wasn't there a similarly coloured 827 Fastback a year or two back that hit nearly £4k? Plus there is that 825 Coupe I bashed the advert up for a few days ago. Different things were being said about that.
It just depends on the market/audience and even how the car is advertised. It may well be there for the next year or two or it may well sell tomorrow, it will sell eventually, probably not for that price though. Good luck to the seller.

This may be a bit expensive compared to some of the KV6 Sterlings around but at least it has a chance of the engine lasting longer than the trip home!

Re: White gold 827 Sterling (K770 KWK) - will they ever sell
I think it would sell if they:
1. Sorted out the droopy front bumper (detracts from the looks, IMO)
2. Renewed the MOT
3. Lowered the price (to £995, perhaps) and stuck to it
4. Took some decent interior pictures
5. Bothered to write something about the car

They have a gorgeous B reg Austin Metro (a very early 5 door example) which Keith Adams drove about 18 months ago, raved about it on AROnline yet remains unsold. Probably because they wanted £1500 for it!
