Nightmare Red haha! Not only the bumpers but all the silver moldings and sills. Probably a paint job to hide the nightmare underneath.

I have real mixed feelings about colour coding a coupe. you cant do half a job either, the side window mouldings on this are still chrome. Maybe if he had left the chrome inserts in the bumper and side mouldings? However my feelings are very 'unmixed' about the black wheels (which look a bit small). You can only get away with it if the black is reflected somewhere else on the car or used with a primary colour, also in my oppinion only Multi Spokes/BBS type wheels should be black.

The 800 Coupe is one car you just should not play with too much...Rover did too good a job of understating it to begin with. I used to fantasize about 'MGfying' a coupe in trophy blue with colour coded bumpers and grill with Black BBS wheels...and then I saw one...it looked, err, not so nice as I imagined.

Other than that - its nice to see one being cared for, the owner has bothered to make an effort rather than breaking her. Hope they get a good price and the owner calls by here or we see them at a show.

been painted down that side, bit orange peely. black wheels do nothing for it though, also and it may be just me, but whoever mixed the night fire hasn't got it right, looks to be no pearl effect to the paint at all.

no i haven't seen it paul, if you look at the reflection in the rear quarter it has distinct orange peel, rover night fire isn't like this, the boot and roof look original, but that car has had the side or sides done when they painted the bumpers and mouldings.

Was very interested in this. Not sure about it anymore! Did ask for some underside pics but said he had no ramp - fair enough. Was going to view it but something just doesn't sit right about it...

I would say that looks a damn good base for a good 'un, no dashlift and wheels can be put back to sparkle, I'd have preferred beige to grey interior with Nightfire but I've learned to love grey with mine, where's Stevee G, he'll give a professional opinion of the paint.

I was expecting it to go for around the 2k mark no? It looks decent in pictures yes. Definitely need a look underneath before buying really. What is parts availability like for one of these things?

2k is probably about right, assuming it is solid, LOOK at the sills on the coupes they can rot from the inside out.

I think you are right, good spot. Not a big deal but makes me think twice about the rest of the car when the seller fails to mention something like that.

its got one of those st george flag emblems on the side of the number plate, I've been to many a car auction and seen cars from wales with the welsh dragon emblem on their number plates, they,ve all been sheds, never not once did i see a car with a chav emblemed number plate that i would have bought. that car has had a lot of paint, shite looking wheels and chav number plates turns me off right away.

and also in the advert, he says its his uncles car, who likes jags, doesn't do computers or ebay, but kits a car up with aftermarket stereo, spongo number plates, spazzed up wheels and performance brakes, exhaust etc etc , what a load of horse shit(said like detective cartright in hot fuzz)

Yes that was my overriding thought first of all - that the uncle story was a load of rubbish. The only saving grace for me is the lovely location the photos have been taken...looks wealthy. Although, it could have just been driven to a nice place for a few snaps!

It looks tidy enough to me. On a personal level I don't like the colour coding (even on saloons and fastbacks) and I really dislike black wheels (which just look cheap and dirty)

I do like the colour coding, I`ve never been a fan of black bits on a car
However, spraying over the chrome strips does look odd and as someone else has said it doesn't quite look the same as the rest of the paint...
Black wheels I hate on any car, nearly as much as newish cars that have been ruined with the `flat matt` paint look.

Its making good money though, currently bid at £1,600+
Although I can see some small dents in the paintwork... always hard to see in photos
