Bolero Red - 820 Vitesse Coupe - R243 FJE

Been the subject of a full nut and bolt mechanical restoration which has taken three years

Bolero Red with Granite leather upholstery

36,800 miles

Advert states thousands have been spent to get it into this condition.

The body is described as being totally rust free and the leather seats and wood as being unmarked

if you could get that for 3500 just think of what it cost to do, and what motoring you would get out of it, what brembo callipers fit the 800 then, and how did he put those chrome bezel surrounds in and from what.

They are a bling item on ebay. ruined the whole car now i'll give him £250 for it and I'll put it right my self. :wink:
There's a guy on rovertech who sells brembo conversion kits. I think the donor car is some sort of hot Renault. A bit pointless on a road car.

I agree with Paul, why spend all this time and money on what seems close to a concours restoration only to spoil it with some unnecessary trinkets?

yeah but guys, if he gone to enough trouble to put brembo callipers on the REAR, then he's put as lot of time and proper cash into it, what would you rather standard ebay callipers? cmon so he over engineered the resto, fcukin mercedes do it for a living. the brembos are a nice touch, the standard brakes on 800s are shite, I've tried them from 140 on a new vitesse sport lux and i couldn't make the junction i had to go to the next one, look underneath on the photos it is perfect, unipart oil filter on it as well, rebuilt motor and diff etc etc, this is the sort of car and owner that exemplifies what owning an 800 is all about, its not about the money its the enthusiasm and interest in the model and to be professional enough to do it properly, ok so 800 values are still in the toilet a bit, but id pay close to that for that car, you will never get a chance to find a better one, cos no one on here is gonna spend what he has on an 800 coupe.

the car looks show quality, think what it would cost to buy a 36k miler in the first place, then mint it to how it is now, for £3800 il bet thats a quarter of what he's spent, and he's picked a nice model in a nice colour, think of all the cash and work you could spend doing up an old dog, and it still would be an old dog, this is like a new car.

id rather look at a quality chequebook resto, than a spray canned diy shitbox done at home, there is no pride in doing work to a car yourself unless your work is as good as the work done on this car, its the end result that counts, not the countless hours you've put in rubbing it down outside your council lockup.

Nice looking car and worth every penny or stick to driving around in your £200-£300 salvage cars. I for one am glad that someone has brought a car to market that looks the parts and is asking, what 2nd hand 10yr old fiesta money.

I would pay the full asking price, it seems like a bargain based on the pictures. I wonder why the engine and gearbox needed all that doing to it with such a small mileage?

I conservatively estimate that I have spent £5000 - £6000 over the years on my coupe, so I disagree with the comment made previous.

This car was at the POL in 2012 and 13 and looked superb, may be it had just been worked on or has been done since I couldn't say.
Surely the whole classic car movement isn't based on what a car is worth in real terms but what someone is prepared to pay for it for what ever reason they may have, be it they just loved one or their dad had one when they were young.
With only 1100 Rover 800s left according to CCW there isn't going to be one of these in this colour sitting on a forecourt in every town.
After all no one is forcing you to buy it. Its another one saved from the scrapyard for which we should be thankful.
